CLA Grad Funding Summary FY15 Graduate Student Support: 1000-DEPTID-21813-YR00002015 Transfer August These funds are a one year allocation and are to be used at the program’s discretion. CLA Grad Student Support funds may be used as a fellowship or partial fellowship, or as a fellowship supplemental to other support such as a graduate assistantship. Students may also be awarded a special one-time award for travel—e.g., research fellowships to conduct research in distant archived or to learn research techniques in a laboratory at another institution. A preliminary letter is sent out in November/December to allow for planning for the next fiscal year. Funds will be transferred in August of following year. (FY14 JE: 538470) Research/ Creative Activity/Travel support: 1000-DEPTID-21813-YR00002015-1000004419 OR 1750-DEPTID-20462-UMF0007178 OR 1750-DEPTID-20462-UMF0001805 * CLA Grad Programs will alert the dept/accountant of specific account prior to transfer Transfer August These funds can be used to a) support graduate student travel to present scholarly work at conferences, b) travel related to dissertation/MFA Thesis research, and c) other dissertation/MFA Thesis research related expenses. The funds are to be administered by the DGS, and they must be spent by the end of August, 2015. The disbursement of these funds is up to the DGS’s discretion. Programs should notify all active graduate students about the availability of these funds to support their graduate studies and their professional development and allow all students the opportunity to compete for these funds. A report on the use of these funds is due no later than June 1, 2015. (FY14 JE: 545402) Recruitment: 1000-DEPTID-21813-YR00002015-1000003913 Transfer August These funds can be used to assist with travel related to recruiting and recruitment supplies or costs. The program can determine how to use the funds to recruit the best applicants to our graduate programs. These funds need to be spent during the 2014-2015 academic year. (FY14 JE: 545077) Additional Allocations: 1000-DEPTID-21830-YR00002015 Transfer August These funds are to provide fellowship support to incoming graduate students. These funds can be used to augment an incoming student’s financial support package during the academic year or to provide summer support. These funds should be used during the incoming student’s first (2014-2015) or second (2015-2016) year in the program. One-time allocation to certain programs. (FY14 JE: 538470) CLA Grad Fellowships/First Year Fellowship: 1000-DEPTID-21830-YR00002015- 1000000014 FY15 Awards Transferred in May 2014 (JE 610104). Transfer in July, 2015 $44,000. The CLA Graduate Fellowship is a one-year award that includes an academic-year stipend of $25,000, academic-year tuition at regular graduate student rates for up to 14 graduate credits each semester, and subsidized health insurance through the graduate assistant plan for the academic year and for summer 2015. If the student does not enter the graduate program until Spring 2015, the fellowship award would be for one semester only. Awards may not be deferred beyond the 2014-2015 academic year. In addition, a student who is awarded a 2014-15 CLA Graduate Fellowship will receive a $5,000 fellowship award during each of the following four years (two years for MFA students). The student can also elect to bundle these funds into a larger fellowship during a given year as long as the total allocation does not exceed $20,000 ($10,000 for MFA students). GRPP Awards: 1000-DEPTID-20497–YR00002015 Transfer in May GRPP awards are in the form of a $4,000.00 summer fellowship that will be paid via the payroll system over five pay periods during the summer. CLA provides $3,500.00 of the funding for each fellowship with a $500.00 cost share with the department. (FY14 JE: 609813) DOVE Summer Fellowship 1000-DEPTID-20471- YR00002015 Transfer in May These funds for DOVE fellows are designed to encourage and support early research projects or work directly related to dissertation research. The summer fellowship is a $4,000 award that will be paid via the payroll system over five pay periods during the summer. (FY14 JE: 609780) In addition DOVE Summer Fellows are eligible to apply for up to $500 in research support provided by CLA, including travel, for summer projects. This support would include expenses such as travel related to the research project, research supplies, payment for research participants, etc. All expenses, including travel, must be incurred during the summer. (The DOVE First year fellowships are funded by the Office of Equity and Diversity, we offer only additional summer funding) Dove Top Off 1000-DEPTID-20471- YR00002015 In an effort to recruit DOVE Nominees, CLA provides funds for students who were nominated but did NOT receive the fellowship by increasing their funding by $4,000 each. The expectation is that the department package will be equivalent to a .5 FTE position (about $14,724) plus tuition and fringe and that the CLA Top-off fellowship will be in addition to this standard package.
