January 8th Pajama and slipper day! January 18th Martin Luther King Jr. Day Public school closed January 19th Pajama and slipper day! January 29th Mismatched Mitten Day! The Education Center enjoyed the warmer than usual month of December. There were tons of opportunities for the children to play outside while winter delayed its arrival. Our second annual Cookies & Cocoa family event was held on December 8th. We had a great turn out, the children had a blast decorating cookies and doing winter themed activities like building a play-dough snowman. And of course, there was yummy hot cocoa for everyone to try! Thank you to all of you who purchased from the Square 1 Art Fundraiser. The art products were beautiful all of the children worked really hard on their art work for the fundraiser! Now that winter has made its appearance, please remember to bring in hats, mittens, winter coats, boots, and snow pants for your child. The classrooms do go outside as much as possible during the winter. With the change of the seasons it is also a good idea to check your child’s extra clothes to make sure that we have weather appropriate clothes that fit just in case they need a change. The babies are really enjoying the changes in the room arrangement. They have more room to move around as they grow. The New Year has lots of exciting things to come including some new classmates. We can’t wait to see what the Buzzing Bees News It’s hard to believe that 2015 is coming to an end! The children of the Buzzing Bees room have blossomed over the past few months. In December, we expanded our sensory play by using shaving cream, goop, scented play-dough, and scented bags. We learned new ways to move our bodies using the New Year will bring! Miss Ashley & Miss Kai Hummingbirds News In December we were concentrating on the topic, “I feel with my skin.” We enjoyed sensory experiences every day! We built with ice cubes of different shapes and sizes, painted with our feet, and explored sand, water, and shaving cream. Playing with our new foam play-dough was one of the most popular experiences. In January, we will be exploring everything that is round. We look forward to many interesting experiments. Miss Olga & Miss Barbara M. Page 3 of 3 Education Center Newsletter RSFK News Ready, Set for Kindergarten is ready for winter!! With some new additions to our playground, we are ready to tackle the winter weather! We can't wait to play in the snow! We have been busy continuing to develop our early math, science, and literacy skills. We have been getting better and better at identifying the letters in our names, writing our names, and even our friends’ names! We have been working on being able to count higher and higher, by counting how many children are in our classroom, how many teachers, how many girls or boys, how tall our towers are, and how many letters School Age News The school age classroom was busy all of December with fun crafts and activities. One of the favorites was painting snowmen with white puffy paint on black paper to see the contrast. Then they enjoyed adding food coloring to the puffy paint to make other colors to paint with. Playing charades and singing karaoke were highlights of the winter break from school. The children were very excited to try to stump their classmates in charades! Miss Erin, Miss Jonelle, & Miss Krys are in our names! We have been working on making predictions as to what we think will happen when we mix different things together. Although our predictions are sometimes a little crazy- the process that we are using is prepping us to have super science brains as we grow!!! Miss Brinna, & Miss Liz
