S.A.F.E Carpool Pick-up and Drop-off

Dear Parents/Guardians,
There is no question that we all share the goal of keeping all our students safe at Concord. Currently, the
lower lot carpool drop-off/pick-up line could be a safer place. We have observed drivers talking on the
phone, cutting the line, creating new lines and getting out of their cars while kids are exiting from all sides
and darting through hectic ‘traffic’ just to get to and from school. These actions have created dangerous and
unsafe situations for our kids, parents and staff.
On Good Day Concord last year, students were introduced to the new
Concord Carpool S.A.F.E. Pledge through a video created by
several fifth graders. It is currently on Concord’s homepage and I
highly encourage you to take a moment to view it. The video shows a
step-by-step guide for a safe and smooth carpool drop-off process.
Please refer to this map of the lower lot that shows the carpool route
and safe pick-up/drop-off areas (green) and unsafe pick-up/drop-off
areas (red). In addition, there will be a designated staff member to
monitor the line.
We are asking ALL drivers choosing to use the carpool drop-off/pickup line to sign the following Concord Elementary School Carpool
S.A.F.E. Pledge. Other drivers (grandparents, caretakers) who dropoff/pick-up your children should also read the pledge below.
Please note, you are always welcome to park your car in one of the designated parking lot spots and walk
your child to the door if more time is needed or items need to be retrieved from the trunk, etc. Our 4th and 5th
graders should feel free to use Concord Avenue as a pick up and drop off location. This can be done safely in
the parking cut out areas along Concord Avenue. This option can save you time and creates less congestion
in the pick up/drop off lane.
Thank you for your support and respect as we work together to make Concord a safe place for our kids.
Concord Elementary Carpool S.A.F.E. Pledge
Stay in the carpool line and follow cars along the route.

Everyone is SAFE!
