FALL YARD WASTE PICKUP
A separate collection of leaves, grass clippings and other yard waste will be collected on Wednesday,
November 4th, 2015. The yard waste must be bagged separately from other household refuse material
and put in plastic or biodegradable bags and placed by curbside for pickup at 7:00 a.m.
SNOW REMOVAL
It shall be unlawful for a person, or another person at his direction, to remove, plow, clear, blow or shovel
snow from property under the person’s ownership, possession or control, in a manner that causes such
snow being removed to be plowed, dumped or placed in any manner upon the property of another or upon
any public street or public property without permission. Snow plowing removal, clearing or blowing shall
be done in a manner that retains such snow being moved, or shall be hauled off the property for dumping
at a lawful location.
(Ordinance 92.21) (B) Duty of owners and occupants regarding removal of snow and ice. The owner
and the occupant of any property adjacent to a public sidewalk shall use diligence to keep the walk safe for
pedestrians by removing snow and ice. No like owner or occupant shall allow snow or ice to remain on
the sidewalk longer than 72 hours after its deposit thereon on the following streets:

Oak Street, between Central Avenue and 2nd Avenue East.

(C) Removal by city.
(1) The City council shall designate officials who shall remove from all public sidewalks identified in
Subsection B, above, all snow and ice as soon as possible beginning 72 hours after any like matter has been
deposited thereon or after the snow has ceased to fall. The City Council shall also designate officials who
shall remove dirt and rubbish from all public sidewalks, including, but not limited to, the public sidewalks
identified in Subsection B, above, to remove from any such sidewalks any dirt or rubbish. The cost for
such removal by the City shall be assessable pursuant to this Ordinance and Ordinance 90.01.

PARKING DURING PERIODS OF SNOW
Whenever existing or forecasted weather condition requires that snow plowing be carried out, no person
shall stop, stand or park any vehicle or permit it to stand upon any street or street right of way during
periods of snow removal. (Ordinance 71.03) All vehicles will be ticketed and towed
RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PERMITS
Recreational Vehicles can be driven on designated streets by permit. (Ordinance 73.01)
 Permits are issued by the Osakis Police Chief.
 One time permit fee of $20.00.
 A copy of your insurance policy will be required.
CRIME FUND
Our local police department has a Crime Fund. Donations may be made at the city clerk’s office. This
money will be used for rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons committing
crimes in the city.
PAYMENTS
Your payment options for Utility Billing:
 Automatic Payments – Payments will be automatically drafted from your account on the 10th of
each month. You will receive a monthly bill which shows the amount that will be drafted from your
account.
Forms can be printed from our city website at www.cityofosakis.com Public Works Tab.
 On-Line Bill Pay – New in 2015, this option allows you to go to our city website at
www.cityofosakis.com and pay your bill on-line using your debit/credit card. Additional items that
can be paid on-line include Assessments, Building Permits, Community Center Rent, Dog License,
Lawn Care Fees, Lodging Tax, Parking Tickets and Snow Removal Fees.
 All payments can also be made by stopping at city hall. We have a night drop box that can be used
after hours.
BUILDING PERMITS
A reminder that Building & Zoning Permits are required in the City of Osakis. Please contact city hall for
information regarding our Zoning Ordinances, Site Plans, Forms and Permits. This information may also
be found on our city website at www.cityofosakis.com.
If a permit is not received prior to starting, the fee doubles.
