GEORGETOWN SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Minutes: November 13, 2014
PRESENT:
Karren Cowing, Alison Freeman, Sharon Trabona, Dolores Pinette, Selectman
representative, and Jim Coombs, Transfer Station manager.
MINUTES:
Sharon Trabona moved and Alison Freeman seconded accepting the October 9, 2014
minutes. They were approved unanimously.
FISCAL:
No Year-to-Date (YTD) statement was available. The hauling and tipping fees through
October 2014 are $35,853 for both household trash and bulky waste.
Alison reported that nine residents disposed of 36 units at the Household Hazardous
Waste (HHW) collection held on October 18th in Brunswick.
OPERATIONS:
Jim Coombs reported that the Transfer Station (TS) is operating smoothly. He has called
the Naylors for a metals pick-up.
Alison has attempted to locate where to take dehumifiers, air conditioners, and other
appliances now that Gediman’s closed. She has not yet found a local business that
accepts these items. Jim will follow up on this.
OTHER:
Alison suggested the Committee recognize the regular, “stand out” volunteers who help
at the Transfer Station (TS). They are Emily Herman, Trish Bonner, Deanna
MacGillivary, and Judy Campbell. Alison moved and Sharon seconded giving each a $25
gift certificate of “Gift of Bath” dollars from Main Street Bath. The Committee approved
this motion unanimously. Alison will purchase the gift certificates and make a
photographic card to give to them.
NEXT MEETING:
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at
7:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Karren Cowing
