Graphic Arts Design One Class Description:
Graphic Arts Design One is a beginning drawing and design class open for all students. This
course covers basic drawing and designing techniques, methods, and a variety of tools to
help improve artistic skills. Students will be introduced to different artists/designers and
theirs art works. Students will be also be introduced to traditional, contemporary and
commercial designing and drawing medias. The foundation for this course is built on the
Elements of Art and the Principles of Design.
Graphic Arts Design One Course Goals:
Welcome to Your Visual Performance Class !
-Students will evolve as an artist through knowledge of drawing and designing using the
Elements of Art and the Principles of Design
skills and techniques and vocabulary; confidently expressing themselves.
–Students will study and research variety of artists/designers and their works.
– Students will learn designing and drawing perception skills, accurately and confidently
recording what is perceived,imagined or drawn from life.
- Students build confidence in designing and drawing skills, creatively conveying ideas.
- Students should develop an appreciation and enjoyment for the art of designing and
drawing taking this course.
- Students will display their artworks at AHS and in our community.
- Students will learn to successfully use traditional drawing techniques /tools and computer
graphics to complete successful artworks.
Graphic Design One Course Expectations:
-Students are required to keep a classroom sketchbook and complete projects.
-Students are expected to utilize class time and be willing to excel in drawing and
designing skills with patience, patience and technique skill building.
-Students will take notes on class information.
–Students are expected to makeup work that they missed due to absences following
school and classroom rules and to make arrangements with the teacher.
-Students will develop as a confident, creative artist and designer, enjoying the process.
-Students will display their work at AHS and in student art shows in our community.
CLASSROOM RULES AND STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:
1. Have a positive attitude, be willing to excel with patience and practice.
2. Treat EVERYONE and EVERYTHING in the class room with respect.
Listen to instruction without interruption, focus on assignments work quietly.
3. Be on time, you are seated when the bell rings; otherwise you will be marked tardy.
4.
(3) tardies = after school detention.
You are not dismissed until you have cleaned up your area and are
seated.
5. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM. WATER IS ACCEPTABLE
WHEN CAPPED AND PLACED ON THE FLOOR.
Not working on assignments is not acceptable for this class.

7. All classroom assignments/homework assignments are to be completed on time.

8. All art work must be signed (first and last name) on the front bottom right or
left. Worksheets, quizzes etc. require a first and last name signature please.
9. No profane language or subject matter allowed.
10. NO COPING from any source, do your own work.
