Graduate Assistant Application
Becoming a Davis College of Business Graduate Assistant is a high honor. To qualify for an
appointment as a Davis Graduate Assistant, you must have a solid scholastic record, a strong
undergraduate background in your major field, and for foreign students, must have demonstrated
evidence of a high level of English proficiency. The assistantships will be merit based and
granted to students who have excelled academically, can provide outstanding letters of
recommendation, and exude qualities of a senior leader in their academic surroundings, and
community involvement.
Requirements:
All applicants must be at least conditionally admitted as potential graduate degree candidates in
the Accelerated MBA program in order to be considered for appointments.
Criteria:
Strong candidates should:
 have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA in their undergraduate work
 have a competitive GMAT or comparable GRE score (required for all)
 clearly define in 500 words or less why they should be awarded an assistantship
Award:
Normally the assistantship awards will be somewhere between one third and one half of the
student’s tuition. In addition to the tuition award, there is a stipend that is paid at the end of each
term. Awards will be granted to maximize the benefit of both the students and the Graduate
Programs. The Graduate Assistants will be responsible for paying the balance of their tuition
and their assistantship will continue into the next semester only if their account is in good
standing.
Graduate Assistants must maintain at least a B (3.0) average and will be required to work a total
of 10 hours per week for the Davis College of Business consistent with the support needs of the
College. Should any Assistant fall below the GPA requirements or otherwise lapse in good
standing within the program, the award will be revoked and the student will be responsible for
the full tuition in the next semester and thereafter.
