MEDIA RELEASE For immediate release From: Adrian Bernecich, Media Officer, Mercy Health Date: Tuesday 26 August Classic numbers bring out smiles and song at Mercy Place Albury Residents at Mercy Place Albury are singing up a storm thanks to a new weekly program that has rekindled memories through some favourite old tunes. Every Monday afternoon, more than 35 residents gather in the home’s lounge area to sing along to classics such as Singing in the Rain, Danny Boy, Roll out the Barrel and I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen. Mercy Place Albury Lifestyle Assistant Narelle Hill said the songs were played on a karaoke DVD, which showed song lyrics and pictures of old movies on a flat screen television. “It plays more than two hours of songs,’’ Ms Hill said. “Our residents love it and staff and family members often join in and sing along as they walk through the lounge. “When it’s over they always want more so we might have to start running the program on multiple occasions throughout the week.” Ms Hill said the activity was one of the most popular at Mercy Place Albury, prompting residents to stir up happy memories just by hearing some of the famous old numbers. − Ends − For interviews and photo opportunities, please contact:
