Young artists ages 2-5 (with an adult helper) will take a cue from the current Mediterranea exhibition to study the country of Greece with stories, activities and mythology. $5-members/$10-nonmembers Saturday 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon YOUNG ARTIST WORKSHOP Layered Landscapes After viewing the work in the Mediterranea exhibition, students will use pencil and paint to learn how foreground, middle ground and background can create the illusion of space. $5-members/$10-nonmembers 19 Sunday 3 p.m. CURATOR’S TALK / WINE TASTING Uncork An Adventure After sampling Italian wines and special refreshments, participants will join Mark White for a Curator’s Talk on Mediterranea. Dr. White is the author of a catalogue on the exhibition, produced by the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art, which is on sale in the Art Museum Gift Shop. $10-members/$14-nonmembers 23 Thursday 10 – 11:30 a.m. MOMS AND TOTS Animal Art Young artists ages 2-5 (with an adult helper) will gain inspiration from the many creatures depicted in the Art Museum’s Permanent Collection and create their own animal art using paint, paper, feathers and more. $5-members/$10-nonmembers 31 Friday 6 – 8 p.m.. CANVAS, COCKTAILS & CONVERSATION John artist Diana Carter and learn to create a landscape using acrylic paint. A glass of wine and appetizer plate are included with the class fee. RSVPs are required. $35-members/$45-nonmembers Saturday 10 a.m. – 12 noon * SUPER SARTURDAY Mythological Creatures Young artists will create their own versions of famous mythological creatures with paint, feathers and other found objects. $5-members/$10-nonmembers * note special time 11 Saturday 1 – 4 p.m. TWO-PART ADULT WORKSHOP Layered Landscapes – painting workshop The workshop is designed for the beginning painter who is interested in developing skills through landscape studies. Adults will be introduced to basics including brushwork, composition, perspective and more. Prior experience not required. Class size is limited; RSVPs required.
