Dear Business Owner,
Please allow me to introduce myself and express the purpose of this letter. My name is
Donna Fontenot, Athletic Director of the Ft. Bend Stars Youth Basketball Organization.
This purpose is to share with you the visions and reasons for the existence of our program.
Our organization saw a need for a basketball program that not only provides a Christian environment for the competitive sport of basketball, but also promotes educational as well as citizenship.
This vision is to provide an opportunity to expose the talent of young gifted basketball players from age 11 through high school. The focus is to train, develop, mentor and educate these kids through their Middle School and High School years.
Discipline is the main source from which we teach. The lack of discipline has been a plague on our youth, thus resulting in the negative outcome of today’s youth.
Teaching them to focus on education, moral values and using their talents, as a tool to help them to get into college is what we are targeting to do.
Ten teams of 12 basketball players, both girls and boys are selected to participate in our
Select Program each year. We look forward to seeing great success from these kids in the future.

PURPOSE AND PHILOSOPHY
The Ft. Bend Stars Select Program is ideally structured to support the educational, cultural, social and athletic needs of youth between the ages of 10 and 18.
The main objective of the Ft. Bend Stars Basketball Club is to motivate its youth physically, mentally, and spiritually toward the achievement of their full potential in life.
In striving to fulfill its basic goal, the team philosophy emphasizes the E.A.T.
concept, education, attitude, and training.
GOAL
The purpose of the Ft. Bend Stars basketball program is to provide healthy recreation in an environment where a child can have fun while developing physical skills and emotional maturity. The goals are to provide opportunities for all area youth by giving them a chance to participate in an organized program with quality instruction and coaching in basic fundamentals and advanced skill development. Participating in youth sports creates a positive experience for each individual participant and encourages a lifetime involvement in sports. To achieve these goals and objectives, the Ft. Bend Stars needs the cooperation and assistance of the participant’s parents, coaches and the community.
HISTORY
The Ft. Bend Stars Youth Basketball Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to kids. Located in Ft. Bend County, the Ft. Bend Stars offer basketball training to girls ages 10-18. Education, fundamentals, basic and advanced skill training, and discipline are our top priorities. The Ft. Bend Stars is committed to developing the student athlete.
This includes academic tutorials and community service projects.
The Ft. Bend Stars is a member of AAU and YBOA associations and follows the rules of these associations as well as Ft. Bend Stars Rules and Regulations. Although we located in Ft. Bend County, we accept kids from surrounding counties.
Founded in 1999, the Association started out with two boys teams in the 16U and 14U division. Today, we have four competitive girl’s teams in addition to a developmental program for girls starting from ages 8 through 16.
The Ft. Bend Stars is run by an all volunteer staff giving many hours of their personal time to the children and Association.
PARTICIPATION
The goal is to enter our teams in the AAU, YBOA, BCI, Mid America and Prime Time leagues and tournaments. Regional and national tournaments expose FBS teams to other geographic areas of the country, as well as top competitors from all parts of the nation.
4
These events provide FBS teams with an opportunity to display their talent to college coaches, scouts and new media all of which can instrumental in obtaining college scholarship in the future. Experiences like this improve knowledge, build confidence and self esteem. All of which are essential to proper character development.
