LAS VEGAS, NV – FEBRUARY 4-6, 2014 – VELUX® America is introducing a new glass option for its skylights, an improved remote control for skylights and blinds, and next generation SUN
TUNNEL™ skylights at the 2014 International Builders’ Show.
Clean, Quiet & Safe Glass
with Neat® coating will keep VELUX skylights cleaner, reduce outside noise, and take the guesswork out of interpreting local building codes for the type of glass required for out-of-reach applications.
A super thin coating of titanium dioxide and silicone dioxide on the exterior surface of the laminated glass will smooth the glass and, with the help of the sun, destroy organic matter deposited on skylights over time. This organic matter is washed away by rainfall, keeping the skylight glass cleaner longer.
Laminated glass reduces outside noise by up to 25 percent when compared to a standard double pane glass and up to 50 percent more when compared to a plastic skylight.
US building codes require that laminated glass be used in out-of-reach applications where any point of the glass is 12 feet above the floor of the room. The new glass is laminated and meets or exceeds this building code requirement nationwide.
In addition to water-shedding properties, all Clean, Quiet & Safe glass options will carry a 10-year hail warranty and are superior to regular tempered glass in U-Value, UV protection and fade protection.
Beginning in 2014, it will be available on most VELUX skylights and will be the standard glass option for
VELUX Solar Powered Fresh Air skylights ( www.veluxusa.com/vss ) introduced at IBS 2013.
Intelligent Touch Remote Control
This completely redesigned touch-screen unit is powered by VELUX INTEGRA® to operate
VELUX “Fresh Air” Skylights and blinds. It is easier to program and use and comes with pre-set programs that automate commonly used functions of the skylights.

Next Generation SUN TUNNEL™ Skylights
Key improvements have been made to both the residential and commercial SUN TUNNEL™ product lines . The new Flexi-Loc™ assembly system will enable installers to save approximately 50 percent of the time required for residential and commercial tunnel assembly.
New lighting collection features and a decorative lighting diffuser, as well as an ENERGY STAR® kit, have been added to the residential line.
The commercial SUN TUNNEL™ line , in addition to installation and packaging improvements, has been redesigned and the 22” model now features VELUX SunCurve for better light collection. These units will capture more morning and evening daylight while diffusing the powerful afternoon sunlight to provide a more even and appealing light output throughout the day.
