August 3, 2015 Dear Parent(s), School is just around the corner. With this letter I hope to answer any question that you may have. The first day of school for PreK4 – 12th is Thursday, August 27th. School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:10. The teachers are in their classrooms by 7:45. PreK3 students start school on either Monday August 31st or Tuesday, Sept 1st. Immunization records are required for all students. Please make sure they are up to date and we have a copy. Bus Information is not available at this time. The bus routes will be emailed to families as soon as they become available. Meet Your Teacher Night is August 25th from 6:00-7:00pm. Classrooms will be open. Your child(ren) will be able to drop off their supplies meet their teacher and visit the classroom. The office will be open to assist you. Mrs. O’Neil will schedule individual meetings with the 3 year old pre-k families so the pre-k 3 will not come to Meet Your Teacher Night. Class Lists will be posted on August 10th on our website. The lists are near completion. If you made a request please know I am doing my best to honor your request, but there are no guarantees. I have many things to consider when putting the classroom lists together. August 1st was the deadline for making a request. The Used Uniform Sale will take place August 10th-14th, from 8:00am to 3:30 pm. Kidz Kare hours in the morning are from 6:00 to 7:45 pm. Afternoon Kidz Kare runs from 3:15 to 6:00 pm. You are only charged for Kidz Kare on the days your child comes. If you are planning on using this program please make sure you fill out the registration papers. Any child dropped off between 7:30-7:45 can sit on the bleachers in the gym until the teachers report to their classrooms at 7:45 without being charged. Drop off directions: If you have a child in Kindergarten – Grade 5, you will pull up in front of the main doors of the elementary. Look for the large round stained class window over the doorway. A teacher will be on duty to assist your child as needed to enter the building and find his/her classrooms. I understand that parents like to come in on the first day of school. You will be allowed to take your child to their classrooms for pictures, etc on the 27th.. If you opt to do this please park in the main parking lot and walk your child into the building. Do not park in the drop off lane. If you have a Pre-K 4 child please go around back by the playground. Park your car and bring your child to the classroom. If you have a child in Pre-K 4 and a child(ren) K-5 the elementary students will be allowed to enter the building and be picked-up at the Pre-K 4 entrance . This way parents will only have to go to one place to drop off and pick-up their children. Pick-Up Directions: Parents of students in K-5 please enter in the drive located in the center of the big parking lot. Cars will line up on each side of the drive in front of the elementary. Please leave the upper drive entrance clear and also the center lane. This space is for the 4 year old parents that need to get to the back of the school to drop off/ pick up their children. If you have a child in K-5th grade drive your vehicle down as far as you can. The classroom teachers will bring your child(ren) to you so stay in your car. Teachers will load students 3 cars at a time. Parents wait for the signal from me to be dismissed. For pick-up please stay in your lane. If you cut over to be in the lane closest to the building this can cause problems for others. If everyone follows these directions we are able to have all of our students in cars and on their way in about 10 minutes. Pre-K4 parents will go to the parking lot in the back and will pick up their child from the classrooms. Pre-K 3 parents please drop off and pick up your child using the main doors of the elementary. Starting on the second day, all students, except PK 3 and 4 yr olds, must be dropped off in the drop off/pick up lane. There will be a teacher on duty to greet your child. Curriculum Night is scheduled for September 8th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Two sessions will be held so that if you have more than one child you can attend curriculum night for two grades. If you can’t make it for the 6:00 session you may come to the 7:00 session. The first session will run from 6:00-7:00 pm the second session from 7:00-8:00 pm. This is also when you will sign up for conference times for the year. Conference time sheets for your child’s classroom teacher will be located on tables in the commons area. Grandparent Day is scheduled for September 18th. We will celebrate Mass at 9:00 am in the high school gym. Grandparents may join us for Mass and visit the classrooms until 11:00 am. The teachers are planning activities for grandparents to participate in. If grandparents can’t come, parents, relatives, and/or friends of the family are invited to take their place. School Pictures are scheduled for September 21st. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask your child’s teacher or call the school office. I am looking forward to another wonderful school year. Sincerely, Anne Jensen, Principal
