VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION
Role title:
Community Events Leader
Reporting to:
Volunteer Coordinator
Hours:
Minimum eight hours per month
Main role:


To deliver presentations and talks on the work of Redditch
Nightstop to local groups, churches, societies and schools
To attend events to raise the profile of Redditch Nightstop
Role description:
 To attend meetings of groups and societies who have requested a speaker from
Redditch Nightstop either individually or supporting a staff member
 To deliver talks and presentations on the work of Redditch Nightstop using the
resources provided
 To attend local events at which Redditch Nightstop will host a stand
 To provide written or verbal feedback on each meeting or presentation attended
 To set out a standard display of leaflets and other information about Redditch
Nightstop at all events
 To compile a database of individuals/organisations who express an interest in
supporting our work through volunteering opportunities; a fundraising event; or
supporting our work through donations
 To handle, keep safe and return to Nigthstop, at earliest opportunity, any money
donated to Redditch Nightstop at presentations and/or events and provide
receipts for the same
 In conjunction with Redditch Nightstop staff to help keep presentation material up
to date
 To attend volunteer training or networking events where relevant to your role at
least once in a one year period
 To liaise and meet with the Volunteer Coordinator for regular supervision
 To meet with the Volunteer Coordinator for an annual review

Skills and abilities
 Good communication and interpersonal skills
 Good listening skills
 Ability to organise and hold meetings
 Ability of, or desire, to acquire basic IT skills
Experience & Knowledge
 A knowledge of, or a desire to build up knowledge of Redditch Nightstop and the
service it provides to Young People
 Experience of talking and or delivering presentations to groups
Qualities:
 Empathy and understanding of the issues facing young people and the risk of
homelessness
 An interest in people
 Trustworthy and honest
 Support for equal opportunity and anti-discriminatory practices
Desirable:
 Hold a current driving license and have access to a vehicle (meetings can take
place during the daytime and night-time).
