ABOUT US
The British Language Training Centre, is a well-established language institute that offers courses in both the English and Dutch
languages, as well as being a Cambridge CELTA training centre. The BLTC language courses and examinations attract over 3000
students per year, studying in over 30 programmes, with native-speaker teachers.
This leaflet informs you about the BLTC programmes related to the CLIL Teacher-Training and Cambridge ESOL Teacher
Workshops.
CLIL TEACHER-TRAINING PROGRAMME: TWENTY HOURS
CONTENT
The CLIL ( Content and Language Integrated Learning ) programme provides teachers with training and practice in using CLIL
methods. The programme offers teachers insights and skills-training in how their teaching methods can be practically adapted
and developed in their TTO classroom. The CLIL programme covers the following areas:

task-based lesson planning

integrating the 4 language skills into a subject area

comparing learning methods

classroom teaching methods and classroom language

teacher and student perceptions of learning in TTO - student levels of English

selecting materials

feedback and correction techniques

structuring CLIL best-practice – strategies for the future
In addition to the programme, participants are given the opportunity to take the Cambridge ESOL Teaching Knowledge Test
(TKT ). This test provides an analysis of the skills required for CLIL teaching.
PROGRAMME FORMAT
The CLIL programme consists of 10 weekly sessions of 2.5hours. The sessions can be given consecutively or spread throughout
the Academic year. The maximum number of attendees is 10. Prior to the programme, participants will be asked to complete a
short English language assessment test - the language level required for the programme is B2. The homework input of this
programme is between3 and 4 hours per week.
TIME AND LOCATION
The programme is offered in-house. The in-house course can be taken at any time throughout the year. The sessions will be
arranged to suit your schedules.

Teacher-Training Programmes
CONTENT
These Teacher-Training Workshops cover the areas needed for a teacher to successfully train their students to pass the
following Cambridge English exams: FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC, or IELTS.
Methods and techniques covered in the workshop:

teaching techniques and strategies for the listening, reading, writing and speaking exams

recognizing test formats

selecting training materials

structuring practice and feedback

designing appropriate writing exercises and assignments

marking scripts
PROGRAMME FORMAT AND DATES
The Teacher-Training Workshops last four hours. The maximum number of attendees for a workshop is 10; minimum number of
attendees is 4. Workshops are held in house at any time throughout the year.
