ETHICAL REASONING STANDARD Definition: Ethical Reasoning is reasoning about right and wrong human conduct. It requires students to be able to assess their own ethical values and the social context of problems, recognize ethical issues in a variety of settings, think about how different ethical perspectives might be applied to ethical dilemmas and consider the ramifications of alternative actions. Students’ ethical self‐identity evolves as they practice ethical decision‐making skills and learn how to describe and analyze positions on ethical issues. 3.1 Management graduates will be able to identify and analyse ethical issues in business scenarios Standards /Criteria Exceeds Expectations Meets Expectations Below Expectations Understanding different ethical perspectives/concepts Student names the theory or theories used as part of their ethical reasoning, and can present the substance of said theory or theories, and explains the details of the theory or theories. Student can recognize ethical issues when presented in complex, multilayered business scenarios and can recognise cross‐relationships among the issues. Student can apply ethical perspectives/concepts and extends this application to business scenarios through the demonstration of above average reasoning * Student can name the major theory or theories of their ethical reasoning, and can explain the theory or theories. Student can only name the major theory she/he uses, as part of their ethical reasoning and is only able to present the gist of the named theory. Student can recognize ethical issues when issues are presented in complex business scenarios. Student can recognize only the basic and obvious ethical issues in business scenarios. Student can apply ethical perspectives/concepts to business scenarios. Student analyses business scenarios, but without applying ethical perspectives/concepts.
