Special Issue on Printable Sensors and Systems
In recent years, material printing has received substantial interest as a technique for realizing low cost,
large-area electronic, optoelectronic and sensing systems. The low-cost printing techniques have enabled
the realization of a wide range of easily deployable systems, including displays, sensors and RFID tags.
This special issue focuses on all printed types of sensors, sensor systems and functional materials. It will
provide the researchers a platform to discuss common challenges (e.g. materials properties, inks, design, printing
mechanisms, integration etc.) that they face, irrespective of the type of sensors or the technologies they work on.
In the process, this Special Issue will consolidate the research in the newly emerging area of printable
electronics. Authors are invited to submit papers on the theoretical, technological and experimental aspects of the
design, development, and validation of various types of novel sensors printed on diverse substrates, e.g. planar
substrates, plastic, metal foils, paper etc. Submission of review papers and tutorials is particularly encouraged.

Submission and Peer-Review of Papers
All papers shall undergo the standard IEEE Sensors Journal peer review process. Manuscripts must be submitted
on‐line, via the IEEE Manuscript CentralTM, see http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/sensors. When submitting,
please indicate in the “Manuscript Type” roll down menu, and also by e‐mail to Ms. Alison Larkin,
a.larkin@ieee.org, that the paper is intended for the “Printable Sensors and Systems” Special Issue. Authors are
particularly encouraged to suggest names of potential reviewers for their manuscripts in the space provided for
these recommendations in Manuscript Central. For manuscript preparation and submission, please follow the
guidelines in the Information for Authors at the IEEE Sensors Journal web page, http://www.ieeesensors.org/information-for-authors
