Module Aims:

to critically evaluate a selected area of psychology which has direct relevance to the
students’ current or future teaching commitments.
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of this module, students should be able to:
Knowledge and Understanding:
1. Demonstrate a critical and systematic understanding of a negotiated area of psychology.
2. Demonstrate the relevance of this negotiated learning to their own professional
development.

Develop critical thinking, and scholarship appropriate to study at masters level.
Critically evaluate contemporary research.
Develop complex knowledge structures.

Indicative content: This will be negotiated with the module leader but could consist of an
essay on a selected area of psychology, research into an aspect of current educational theory
