Tuesday:
BBQ Society: (FEE $12) Back by popular demand!!! Do you want to learn how to BBQ with the best in KC!? If
so, the Congress BBQ Society is here to teach you how to be a master griller! Come learn how to properly light
a charcoal grill and smoker. We will prepare, cook and eat: hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, kabobs, bratwurst,
and more! We will learn how to make our own BBQ sauces. We will also be smoking items such KC ribs. Come
be a part of an old KC tradition, and learn how to BBQ with the best!
Art Club: Calling all creative peps! Are you interested in the arts? The Art Club is dedicated to promoting
artistic works throughout the school. This club will create art, promote your artistic abilities, and support
those seeking a creative outlet. This club will also inspire young artists to continue working with their talents.
You do not need to be an artist or enrolled in an art class to join this exciting group!
Technique Tuesday: Open to 7th and 8th grade band students: Practice technique sessions for students wishing
to improve and get better on their instrument. GREAT for the student that needs a time and a place to
practice, the student auditioning for all-district band in November, or the student struggling with skills needing
remedial help.
Movie Mania: Flashback to the 80’s and 90’s in Mrs. Gant’s Movie Theatre Tuesdays! Like totally rad! Room
118. Feel free to bring a snack and a drink.
Kickball: Come get your ‘kick’ on with Ms. Mays after school on Tuesdays! Had a rough day? Need to release
some extra built up energy? What is more perfect than kicking a ball and then scoring that game-winning
run?!? Make sure you have appropriate clothing and shoes if you plan on attending – we will be outside if at
all possible! See you on the field!
Thursday:
Dodge Ball: Come get some exercise after school by playing a fun spirited game of dodge ball! Please wear
appropriate clothes and shoes for this activity.
Walk and Talk: Are you looking for a little bit of fresh air? How about a little bit of cardio? Most importantly,
can you walk and talk at the same time? Join Walk and Talk! Each Thursday we will go for a nice walk around
the surrounding neighborhoods and take a QUICK stop by Sonic for a tasty treat!
Great Games!: Do you like to play good ol’ fashion board games, Pokémon, Magic, or CCG card games? Are
you looking for some friendly competition? Well look no farther. Come hang out in Mrs. Gant’s room on
Thursdays after school and get your game on! Feel free to bring a snack and drink.
CEE (Congress Externship Experience): Come join Ms. Mays on Thursdays for an awesome experience with a
local business! We will work as a team to learn more about the business, have one-on-one conference
sessions with the owners, go out to a site visit, and volunteer in what areas we are needed. Our focus will be
on helping the business identify and solve a real-world problem/issue they are having and will present our
proposals for solutions for them to use as a means of improving current practices. THIS WILL COUNT
TOWARDS VOLUNTEER HOURS for the end of the year awards! Don’t miss out!
