Dear Colleague:

As President of the Brooklyn Pediatric Society, I am extending an invitation for you to join us at our dinner meetings and to become a member of the Society. Please feel free to tell your colleagues and residents about our meetings and invite them to come as well.

BPS has provided a forum for pediatricians to meet and discuss clinical, administrative and legislative issues for over 30 years. In addition BPS is also a member of the local chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and thus is the Brooklyn pediatricians’ voice – your voice in the AAP. Our meetings are normally held on Wednesday evenings 6pm-9pm at Bay Ridge Manor 476 76 th

Street, Brooklyn, NY 11209 and include a cocktail hour, dinner and speaker presentation.

I am including a BPS membership form with this letter. I invite you to join BPS by filling out the form and returning it to us with your membership dues. Your dues directly support and entitle you to attendance at all meetings this year. I also encourage you to contact me with any questions or suggestions you may have about activities and the role of the Brooklyn Pediatric Society.

If you have not been able to participate in our past dinner meetings, I want to welcome you back. The Society recognizes that your presence, ideas and monetary support are invaluable and vital to the longevity of the Society.

On September 18, 2013, Dr. Leonard R. Krilov, M.D., FAAP, Chief of Pediatric Infectious Disease and Vice Chairman of Pediatrics at

Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY and professor of Pediatrics at SUNY, Stony Brook School of Medicine who is internationally recognized for his clinical expertise in pediatric infectious disease, will give us an “Update on the Redbook”.

On November 20, 2013 a joint meeting with the Brooklyn OB/GYN Society is scheduled at Lai Yuen Restaurant, 10033 4 th Avenue,

Bay Ridge Brooklyn, NY 11209. “Menstrual Disorders in the Adolescent Female” will be the topic for this evening.

On January 15, 2014, Dr. Carmel Foley, MD child and adolescent psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience will give us a presentation on a relevant pediatric mental health topic-“The C.A.P.P.C Project-the integration of mental health into primary care.”

March 19, 2014 will be University Night. BPS will host a forum with several pediatric gastroenterologists who practice in Brooklyn.

Challenging GI cases will be presented and discussed. It will be an excellent opportunity to learn and implement newly gained knowledge into your everyday practice.

On May 14, 2014, we will wrap up the year with our Residents’ Night. Residents from pediatric training programs in Brooklyn will present the results of their research.

It is my pleasure to serve you and I look forward to meeting you at our upcoming dinner events.
