LEVELS) APPLICATION FORM The Association invites and encourages applications for the Stefanie Ludwig Memorial Scholarship Award for advanced students in anthropology (either M.A. or Ph.D. levels). This award is for $1500. This scholarship is designed to assist eligible students in their pursuit of a Doctorate or Master’s degree in anthropology, or a clearly related degree program/curriculum, or interdisciplinary degree that includes anthropology as a significant component. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a M.A. or Ph.D. program and be members of the Alaska Anthropological Association (i.e., current year dues must be paid at the time of application). The primary evaluation criteria will be the quality and significance of proposed research in these areas: 1) Geoarchaeology-including stratigraphic interpretation, the analysis of soils and sediments, as well as employing landscape history and characteristics in designing field surveys for prehistoric sites; 2) Collections Analyses; 3) Cultural Resource Management. The awards are limited to the support of field and/or laboratory research on Alaska material. Requests can be offered for travel to complete research, but not to attend meetings or present data. One $1500 scholarship competition is offered each year, limited to graduate student applicants who are members of the Alaska Anthropological Association at the time of application. Deadline for applying each year is February 1. The award is not necessarily made each year, depending on the quality of submissions.
