ArtReach is a dynamic cultural development agency that helps support and drive high
quality arts and heritage initiatives. ArtReach delivers to four strands of work:
1. Strategic development (including visioning, business planning, fundraising and
board development)
2. Capital cultural project development and delivery (encompassing
studies, development activity and project management)

3. Festival and event creation, programming, production and delivery (see

4. Public art commissioning and project management
With a number of exciting projects (capital and revenue) moving into the next stage of
development, we are seeking an experienced, committed and ambitious individual to
join our team in the new role of Arts and Heritage Consultant. Applicants must have
outstanding communication and report writing skills, a track record in successful cultural
fundraising, and experience of managing and facilitating complex partnership
arts/heritage activity. The successful candidate will be based in our Leicester or
Maidenhead office.

to 5:30pm with 30 minutes for lunch. Please note
that evening and/or weekend working may be
necessary. Considerable travel and some overnight
stays (with expenses remunerated) will be required.

Summary
ArtReach (www.artreach.biz) comprises a cultural events management and consultancy
(established1996), and ArtReach (Trust) Ltd a not-for-profit company (limited by
guarantee) that initiates, develops and produces innovative creative arts projects and
programmes. ArtReach was established by Director, David Hill, and has an office base
in Maidenhead (Berkshire) and Leicester. ArtReach has a long track record of providing
a unique range of specialist support to help drive successful arts and cultural projects
and activity.

The company has four strands of work:

Organisational development support for the arts and cultural sector (including
strategic development, business planning, fundraising and board development)

Cultural capital project development

Festivals and events creation, production and delivery

Public art projects and programmes
ArtReach works with theatres, galleries, arts centres, festivals, dance companies, music
organisations, carnival groups, museums, individual artists, Local Authorities and arts
funding/development agencies, including Arts Council England (ACE). It has a strong
portfolio of clients in the East Midlands, South-East, South-West and London, but also
delivers projects in the other regions of England and sometimes internationally.
In 2015 ArtReach is:

Planning and developing its Night of Festivals event (a celebration of the values
of freedom and independence through artistic innovation) for two day events in
Lincoln, Hounslow, Barking and Leicester.

Developing European collaborative projects with carnival and street arts
companies in Germany (Hamburg), Denmark (Aalborg), Bulgaria (Sofia) and
Romania (Bucharest).

Planning and developing its Journeys Festival (a Refugee Arts initiative) for
Leicester in summer 2015, leading into an additional programme in November as
part of a national Refugee Arts Conference in the city.

Coordinating Platforma East Midlands – a regional Refugee Arts programme.

Project managing an intensive community arts programme in London Borough of
Hillingdon (Northwood Community Arts – www.northwoodcommunityarts.co.uk

Supporting the development of Milton Keynes Islamic Arts and Culture
organisation, including event managing a major summer festival programme.

Delivering

DanceXchange/Birmingham Hippodrome in creation of a major European
collaboration project for International Dance Festival 2016.

Undertaking feasibility work on capital project developments in Nottingham,
Birmingham, Walsall, Jaywick and Weymouth.

Supporting the development of public art projects for Sustrans UK and for a range
of initiatives across Central Bedfordshire.

Helping develop business plans and deliver fundraising for Creative People and
Places projects including Market Place in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, Barking
and Dagenham, and Slough.

Providing organisational development and fundraising support for a range of arts
organisations including Nottingham Asian Arts Council, Leicester Arts Festivals,
Apna Virsa, West Midlands Music Education Hubs and the Jane Packman
Company.
Arts and Heritage Consultant - Key Responsibilities
1. To lead and take responsibility for all delivery aspects of specified client projects and
programmes. This work will include - preparing tenders; developing detailed project
plans; time and budget management; client reporting; providing effective consultancy
advice; facilitating meetings; driving development activity; constructing business plans,
fundraising strategies and creative programmes; developing and writing funding bids;
coordinating feasibility studies; and presenting recommendations and reports.
2. Working as part of an ArtReach team to successfully deliver a range of arts and
heritage consultancy work; contributing to the wider portfolio of ArtReach activity; and
effectively advocating and promoting the work of ArtReach.
3. Identifying and pro-actively securing opportunities for new business.

met and surpassed.


Detailed Responsibilities
In response to parameters agreed with the ArtReach Director, the post holder will be
the lead ArtReach team member delivering specific consultancy work, organisational
development activity and feasibility studies/development work on behalf of ArtReach
clients from the arts and heritage sector. In delivering this work the post holder will:
1.
Review tender criteria and prepare strong and appropriate proposals for tender
submissions that meet the business objectives of ArtReach.
2.
Attend interviews as ArtReach lead representative or as a member of the
ArtReach team.
3.
Prepare detailed project delivery plans, budgets and timelines, identifying
resource requirements and risks.
4.
Draft and review client contracts, seeking final approval from the ArtReach
Director.
5.
Identify, recruit and manage additional short-term team members as needed e.g.
freelance support, design team or cost consultancy input.
6.
Ensure regular liaison with client representatives and deliver interim and final
reports and presentations to a high standard, using agreed ArtReach formats.
7.
Plan, arrange and deliver consultation sessions and partner/stakeholder meetings
as required within a project delivery plan.
8.
Manage, facilitate and record meetings to achieve agreed objectives.
9.
Provide effective and clear communication internally to the ArtReach Director and
other team members and externally to clients.
10. Create development and business plans, fundraising strategies, programme and
project proposals, and feasibility recommendations, as needed for each individual
project, using appropriate skill to analyse, interpret and provide robust advice
and recommendations.
11. Identify potential funding opportunities and prepare funding bids.
12. Manage documentation, monitoring and evaluation of projects, and archiving.
13. Ensure confidentiality is maintained to protect the interests of both ArtReach and
its clients
14. Comply with all statutory legislation and contract requirements concerning
equality of opportunity, data protection, health and safety, child protection and
environmental sustainability.

15. Liaise with and support other members of the ArtReach team, as required, across
the portfolio of ArtReach projects.
16. Advocate for ArtReach wherever and whenever possible (including attending
network events) and pro-actively seek new business opportunities.
17. Prepare and deliver presentations; create copy for and contribute to ArtReach
social media, online network and web pages; and write promotional and print
copy as needed.
18. Deliver day to day office administration requirements (being self-sufficient in
terms of main support needs) - maintaining electronic and paper filing systems,
contacts information and personal time sheets, work plans etc.
19. Any other coordination, consultancy and administration work as required to
ensure effective delivery of the role.
Person specification
Essential skills, qualities and experience:

Experience of successfully creating and implementing Development and Business
Plans, Fundraising Strategies and arts and heritage project programmes.

Evidence of successful tendering experience.

Experience of work contributing to capital project development.

Experience of delivering complex arts/heritage projects.

Budgeting skills proven in successfully planning, managing and reporting on
substantial budget allocations.

Ability to work effectively in harnessing and leading complex partnerships – team
leadership skills and experience.

Substantial experience of writing successful funding applications and securing
funding from a range of sources.

Evidence of commitment to and passion for arts and heritage projects and
programmes, especially those that engage a range of communities.

Understanding and knowledge of national and regional arts/heritage policy and
funding.

Experience of reporting to Boards.

Evidence of excellent presentation, report writing and communication skills.

Attention to detail.

Independent motivation.

Evidence of reliability and of successful completion of projects.

Positive and friendly working approach.

Strong IT and social media skills and experience.

Willingness to travel and to work at weekends and in the evenings.
