Purpose of the job
The purpose of the job is to coordinate the volunteering element of UCL’s Global Citizenship
Programme. We will be offering a two week post-exam programme of volunteering from May
2014, bringing teams of UCL students together to undertake collaborative projects that
connect them with communities across London. During the academic year, the post-holder
will liaise with partners within UCL and in the voluntary and community sector to develop the
programme, and devise learning materials and a support structure for students. The role will
also involve support for some student-led community projects.
Students choosing the volunteering element will learn more about the voluntary and
community sector, its role in society, and become aware of some of the current issues
facing the sector. Their learning will be put in the context of the wider Global Citizenship
Programme. In addition, they’ll develop new skills through doing practical tasks as part of a
project team.
All references to the Global Citizenship Programme below are to the VSU’s strand unless
