Organizational Relationships:
Reports to: Computer and Database Specialist III
Coordinates with: Project and Institute staff; contracting agencies, state agencies, providers
and consultants; USM faculty and professional staff.
II.
Statement of the Job:
The Data Resources Coordinator (DRC) works in a team environment and is responsible for
collection and management of confidential health data, data quality, data security and HIPAA
compliance. The DRC participates in the design, development and testing of the data collection
and reporting systems that support these data. The DRC works with program staff to design
reports and process that assure data quality and integrity in the system. The DRC acts as the
liaison to data contributors for the collection and tracking of relevant data. The Data Resources
Coordinator participates in training webinars, conference calls and attends meetings with client
agencies, providing technical assistance and help desk functions on projects, assisting with the
drafting of project progress reports and other communications with external agencies, and
coordinating communications with the internal and external project team. The Data Resources
Coordinator is the first point of contact for external clients and providers and carries out project
responsibilities within parameters approved by the Health Data Resources Director.
III.
Essential Functions:
Data Collection and Processing: Collects, coordinates and organizes data as appropriate,
including importing and processing data from CMS and other sources. Communicating with
providers to maintain data quality.
Run and distribute regular reports to external and internal staff. This includes posting reports to
internal web sites as needed.
Technical Assistance: Provides technical assistance and training to external state partners.
Serves as the first point of contact and provides help desk functions. The DRC provides
technical assistance to staff on the use of relevant databases and software.

Marginal Functions:
Staff monthly provider forum calls. This includes maintaining logs of questions for the forums
along with mailing lists for future calls and communications.
Assist in preparing project progress reports for project funders.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data collection, including electronic data
transmission and clinical assessment data.
Demonstrated high-level user of data management software (including Access). Preferred
familiarity with SQL.
Experience working with confidential health data.
Strong analytical skills and abilities.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Experience in healthcare field (administrative, clinical, financial, etc.)

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree and two years data management experience or equivalent education and
experience, preferably in a health services field.
Preferred:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data collection, including electronic data
transmission and clinical assessment data.
Demonstrated high-level user of data management software (including Access). Preferred
familiarity with SQL.
Experience working with confidential health data.
