COMPUTING LAB UPDATES:

CLASS DESCRIPTION
 It was the first class of Introduction to Computing (LAB) led by Course Instructor, Miss
1. Naveen Zehra. We started off with the discussion of Course Outline. Finally a simple ice
breaking activity was carried out.
 The next class was regarding introduction to Softwares and their Types. OS Functionalities

and Folder Management Operations were also taught.
 Moreover , introduction to MS Word was conducted and homework was assigned to create a
3D graphical model of a building.
 We started off with the description about the different features of MS Word. A class activity

was conducted in which we had to be creative and write a paragraph of 3-4 lines in different
styles and homework was assigned to prepare our own Resume (CV) using MS Word.
 We initiated with the introduction of MS Excel along with it’s brief description. We had to

perform a class activity requiring us to use different formulas such as SUM, AVERAGE,
MIN and MAX. Then we applied these formulas in a fairly simple exercise.
 We were ready to explore the vast applications of computers, but unfortunately the Class was

called off.
 We were handed over with a surprise quiz making us really surprise. It was related to MS
6.
Excel based on the concepts taught to us. Then we were made familiar with more functions
like IF and COUNT IF and told to implement it. Finally our first project was discussed
related to an educational game for seven graders and had to be presented by 3 members of the
group.
 The next class was an exciting one based on an introduction on MS Power Point

Presentations. The aim was to make our presentations mersmerising, tempting and visually
appealing. Thus the class ended off with the teacher reminding us about the game due in the
in next class. A full fledged presentation was also required along with the game.
 Everyone was nervous that day as it was our first presentation. 6 out of 11 groups presented

the the Games they designed while the rest were called off due to time crisis. The three of us
namely, Me (Mohammad Mutahir Younus), Noman Saboor and Haider Salman Butt were
responsible for presenting the excel game. The teacher summed up the session pointing out
our mistakes.
 The next class began with the 5 groups presenting their games and the teacher announced our

scores.
 Considered to be one of the most thrilling topics by many, the class began with the

introduction to Web Designing and basic HTML structure was discussed. Next we wrote a
code creating our very first webpage using notepad.
 Our 1st Term Exams had commenced and the class was not held.

 We returned with our passionate hearts and motivated minds trying to grasp what

 What the teacher had to offer. A Lecture on Attributes, Lists and How to add an Image on a
Webpage totally cheered us up. A class activity was assigned to create a webpage using the
attributes discussed in class..
 A sounding lecture on HTML Hyper linking was delivered by the teacher including External

Hyper Linking and Internal Hyper Linking. A class activity was assigned to create 2
webpages using Hyper Linking..
 A lecture was delivered regarding Creating a Table on a webpage. Then we had to modify

the previously created Networks webpage using Tables. The next 20 minutes were dedicated
to a quiz relating to webpages.
 The next class was regarding a Lecture on Frames. Then we had to implement it by

modifying the networks webpage. Finally we were handed over with another presentation
called The E-Book Webpage project due on 3rd and 7th November..
17. Eid Holiday
 We finally got our hands on photoshop learning its basic features.

 Another lecture on Photoshop coupled with a class activity in Which we had to design a

banner and buttons for our E-Book Project.

 An Introduction to SCRATCH Software together with its features discussed made up most of

the class. Finally we ended up creating our first animation.
21. The Presentation of E-Book Website Project made up the entire class.
22. One Presentation of E-Book Website Project was left and after it was conducted, we designed
another animation in stratch.
23. A 2 player car race game was designed by us on scratch using the images made on
photoshop.
 The review of Race Car game was shown to the teacher and then we were assigned a new

game with helicopters.
 9th Moharam Holiday.

28. Next we were told to develop another exciting game named space invaders.
29 The next class was spent working on another animation regarding tanks in which we
developed one which was capable of turning back and forth with proper bombing features.
30 Guess what. It was a holiday.
31 The scratch presentations were presented in the double class but around 7 people were
unable to make theirs.
32 The remaining presentations took place .
