In observance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Atlanta Ballet has partnered with Northside Hospital to raise funds for its Breast Care Program through a special promotion around the much anticipated season opener. “Moulin Rouge” will premiere October 22, with 10% of all tickets sold through the Northside promotion donated directly to the Breast Care Program. Patrons and supporters are also encouraged to wear pink ribbons on the official Northside Hospital Day at the Ballet, October 23, during the matinee and evening performances of “Moulin Rouge.” “Moulin Rouge is the perfect platform to draw awareness to such an important cause,” said Susan Casella, Breast Care Program coordinator at Northside Hospital. “Women everywhere love the glamour and thrill of the Moulin Rouge and this partnership allows us to speak directly to our audience, but in a fun, yet meaningful way.” The core of Atlanta Ballet’s audience is women 34-65, and Northside Hospital’s Breast Care Program is the largest single hospital program in Georgia, diagnosing and treating more cases of breast cancer than any other community hospital in the Southeast. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, accounting for nearly 1 in 4 cancers diagnosed in US women, and 50% of women who developed breast cancer were age 61 or younger at the time of diagnosis. Breast cancer is also the leading cause of cancer death in women between the ages of 15 and 54. “Atlanta Ballet is honored to have the opportunity to recognize the outstanding services of Women’s cancer care at Northside Hospital and to become a new resource for healing to Northside patients,” said Atlanta Ballet executive director Arthur Jacobus. “We look forward to a successful fundraiser this year and a fruitful partnership moving forward.” To purchase tickets through the Northside Hospital promotion, visit www.ticketmaster.com/atlballetnh or call the Atlanta Ballet Box Office directly at (404) 873-5811, ext. 207.
