School starts Thursday, August 14 with an early dismissal at 1:30 p.m. We will have a full day on Friday, August 15 from 8:05-3:30 p.m. For more information on our school events and activities, please visit our school website www.weepingwaterps.org or the ECNC rSchool http://www.eastcentralnebraskaconf.org *Just a reminder that school hours are as follows: High School-8:05 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Elementary-8:05 a.m.-3:25 p.m. If you have not noticed, there is a “buzz” going around in the community, especially on the school’s campus, of the “New Look” our school is starting to develop. We are looking forward to a successful and exciting new year as our school continues to be recognized in all academic, athletic, and extracurricular areas. We are excited to be providing an education to close to 150 students, 7-12, this year. Our high school population continues to grow as we keep building. The good news is that we are and will be well equipped to accommodate larger classes, thanks to our vision of the new state of the art facility we will have in the near future, and we have successfully maintained our “small school” feeling. To the parents of our 7th and 9th grade students joining us for the first time this fall, welcome! We look forward to your arrival and to getting to know each and every one of you and your children. We know that the transition to high school can be filled with both challenges and opportunities, but that through the collaborative efforts of faculty, upper class students, and you at home, we can make this a smooth and gratifying experience. I would like to take this opportunity to invite both 7th/9th grade students/parents to two very important fall events. The first major event is our annual Back-to-School Night for athletics and activities (OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS), which is scheduled for Monday, August 11 running from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This night is for our extracurricular activities to showcase their programs, and it will be set up in the MPR. This night also is for our coaches to meet and greet studentathletes and parents regarding their particular sport. The second is an orientation for parents of 7th grade students with 7th grade teachers, counselors, and administrators available on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room. It will allow for introductions, information gathering, Q and A, and the opportunity to meet other 7th grade parents. This event provides parents with the opportunity to follow an abbreviated schedule of their child’s classes to give them an understanding of where they are during the class periods, and it will allow parents to meet staff with whom their child will be spending time during the day. I am certain that you will find both of these events to be informative and worthwhile. Every staff member has been working very hard to prepare for the return of our wonderful students. We have set very high expectations and made plans to guarantee that every student at Weeping Water will be successful this school year. Student academic success is the main goal of every staff member at Weeping Water High School. We believe that every student will learn to the highest level, and we are prepared to offer more time and support to every student that needs it. I ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, encouraging your child to read at least 30 minutes every evening, monitoring your child’s homework, and asking your child to share what he/she learned at school each day. School Policy Reminders and Updates: *Backpacks are NOT allowed in the classroom. Students may store them in their lockers. *Clear liquids in clear containers are allowed; no Monster or related drinks in school. Cell phone usage is the same, with the consequences as follows: >1st offense: Cell phone will be confiscated and turned in to the Principal.
