S&A Week---Help Plan Service & Advocacy Week! November 7th – 11th
o Service & Advocacy student organizations as well as other groups on campus host various programs designed to bring
awareness to their causes. If your community council would like to be a part of this week, Contact Eric Stevens
(stevene2@gvsu.edu).

Funding Board Business
o $5,464.00 has been allocated to date for the 2011-2012 fiscal year
o $26,536.00 is remaining in the Service and Advocacy Council’s annual budget for 2011-201

o How to submit a request
 Type of funding: on-campus program, equipment, travel funds, organization conference travel, new org
 4 weeks in advance at a minimum- sooner the better!
 Per item cost and quantity
 Important Considerations: on campus food- will need a quote! & professional contracts

o Deadline extended to apply for the Leadership Summit Planning Board! Leadership Summit of Grand Valley State
University is a state-wide premier leadership conference on February 18th. It is a student-run conference which strives to
foster leadership development for undergraduate students, in multidisciplinary aspects of campus life. The planning
board helps with all aspects of Leadership Summit. Application available at www.gvsu.edu/leadership. We’d love to
have a representative from HRL to be a part of the planning! Applications are now due by 6pm on October 7th. For any

o Upcoming application deadline for National Leadership Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa (Friday, October 7th by
5:00 p.m. ). ODK is a National Leadership Honor Society that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership
and exemplary character. Membership in Omicron Delta Kappa is open to Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students who
have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA, as well as staff, administration, faculty, and alumni. More info at

This week a representative from the Graduate Student Association will be discussing their
ideas for the Student Senate restructuring. Please join us for our general assembly at 4:30

Virtual Office Hours for President Haas will be Wednesday, October 5th from 2:30-4pm
Senate is starting a letter writing campaign to take to Lansing (look for updates on this in the near future)
Student Voice Week will be Oct. 24th-28th. Be sure to fill out a survey at our table in Kirkhof Center to have your voice
heard!
The Student Senate T-Shirt Swap will also be Oct. 24th-28th. Bring in an old high school t-shirt or another college's t-shirt
and swap it for a new Grand Valley one.
