MINOOKA LACROSSE BOARD MINUTES AUGUST 19TH 2014
Jen motion to approve minutes from June meeting Scott y second we all approve.
Two guests: Vanessa jv goalie mom interested in joining board daughter plays. Also Dawn son plays on
fresh soph team. Both first year playing lacrosse interested in helping out where ever.
Fundraising: Collette: instead of cookie dough maybe candles? Sell 30 tubs of cookie dough it would
be 20 candles ( gold canyon) more profit! We would get $8.00 per candle. Could we do fall and spring?
Volunteers: Loraine all 4 volunteers showed up for three rivers fest and we will get our money.
Next year? Long hours? Same board members? Rotate shifts for the 6 hours for parent’s volunteer
hours? Lorraine will continue to work with them to decide if we can continue with this shift?
We upped the volunteer hours to 3 hours per player. We have 2 winter picks for boosters football
September 19 and October 23rd there will be email sent out.
Park district camp coming up we need 2 kids seniors every Monday night starts sept 15th ends oct 20th
5pm to 8pm. Contact Lorraine for this volunteer position! You must see it through! Coaches will rotate
nights for camp. Kids can do 3 weeks in a row!
Banquet : sue yielding
Tournament: we need chairperson!!! Carol will help!!!!!! April 26th 2015 is tournament! Location is not
confirmed yet! Jen H. and Shannon S. will help also! Dawn (volunteer) stepped up to the plate and
offered to chair tournament!
Nominating: none
Safety: Collette – none
Treasurer: no budget committee? But there was a report handed out. Checking balance is $18,854.19
We got 2,000. Check from Exxon Mobil. We still need to figure out bus expense? $5000. Stipend to be
divided up between coaches. This would leave us with approx $3000. In our account.
Each team fresh/soph , jv, varsity both boys and girls was given $700. Each to spend as they see fit.
Balls buy in bulk? Same balls just different colors. Paint ? How do we divide it? Get recpts. Together
for 2014 and divide the amount to see how much we actually spent? If a team does not use their $700.
Allowance in a year can they use it the next year? Yes!!!!
Do we have motion by Renee mike 2nd to approve coach’s stipends at $5000. Approved 9 yes and 3
abstained.
Vice Pres. – Mike C. – Check came in from 3 rivers fest for volunteering. Registration mtg. we had one
will have another first of sept. will go over the reg. packet and get on web site for 1st of oct. for
returning players and in dec. reg. mtg. is for new members and in jan. it will be for all players!
Secretary: Kim none – but carol yes we are suppose to have an odd number of board members and we
are at 14 and we need 13 or 15? Jenn Mac decided to step down so we can add two more board
members that have kids playing. Also, we need to get word out that we are in need of several board
members within the next year because of several board members leaving within the next year.
Coaches; Dave – meeting this week for scheduling for boys we are on our way!
Scott is working on schedule but Carrie mentioned we look short for girls teams for next year!
Sue will send email re: college clinics coming up!
Calendar: Dave – first week of sept. meeting Dave will email out to see who is interested.
Website: Collette; logins and passwords were given to carol from Collette just for safety.
New business: 7th & 8th grade camp with park dist. Early summer? Right after memorial day? One day a
week or we could do winter break? Field house? One night a week also. Expose people to Lacrosse all
experimental for 1st thru 6th grade soft sticks. 7th and 8th grade will be hard sticks to get them ready for
actual high school lacrosse. Dave can we do something in conjunction with our summer camp? In the
works !!!!
Homecoming parade? Sept. 26th, 4pm Lacrosse will have a float in it again! More news to follow !!!!
Jen H. will donate balls again to throw out. Also maybe $100. For candy? Motion by Shannon for $100.
For candy for parade Kim 2nd Shannon will be in charge of who spends what? Approved .
Boosters; Shannon – last mtg. was good and photos of new uniforms were sent to them with thank you!
We need to break lacrosse up into two separate teams with boosters because they look at us as one
team????? We could do more if we were two teams on the boosters!
Old business: Field space: we are in need of field space! Chanooka braves say no to their field and
central high school says no to football field. So we need to go to school board with a proposal to see if
they would help! South? Money? Committee maybe? Everyone show up as community to the board
meeting with a planned proposal for help! (Shannon)
Carol and Shannon will attend next board mtg. to address this!
Address newspaper re: lacrosse situation and if we get our timing right maybe we can push it along!
