For the information of the Directors of Phumelela East Cape and the Chief Executive of the National
Horseracing Authority, in accordance with Rule 4.2.3., I wish to submit the following report on the
meeting conducted by Phumelela Gaming & Leisure East Cape on Monday 11 November 2013 at
Fairview Racecourse.
Stipendiary Stewards on duty : Mr M R Jones (Chief Stipendiary Steward), Mr T Khanyile and Mr
G Foxcroft (Trainee).
Veterinary Surgeon on duty: Dr C Hayward.
Course Medical Officer on duty: Dr J Lapere.
Starters: Mr D S Kempthorne and Mr S M Kane (Assistant Starter licenced for the day).
Clerk of Scales: Mr A J Caalsen, Mr M Maliti. The Clerk of Scales reported that all jockeys medical
record books were checked and were in order.
Handicapper: The National Horseracing Authority (Handicapping Department).
Academy Master: Mr H Davie.
Judges: Mr P Aston and Mrs L Vermaak
Farrier: Mr S M Kane. The Course Farrier reported that the shoes of all the runners engaged at
today’s race meeting were checked and conformed with the rules.

checked and confirmed.

LUCKY JAY (F Herholdt) brushed the inside running rail at the 350 metre mark, being chased
into a closing gap and thereafter was baulked for a clear run to the inside of
WHERESMYMIND (G Cheyne) to the finish. Jockey Herholdt the rider of LUCKY JAY lodged
an Objection against the winner WHERESMYMIND on the grounds of taking up his running at
the top of the home straight. After reviewing the Patrol Film of this incident and hearing
evidence from both riders the Board overruled the Objection and the placings stand. The
Objection fee was refunded.
