German Measles

Hand, Foot and Mouth

Infectious before symptoms show. School to Contact HPU clusters

Treatment recommended. Available in chemists.
Impetigo
Until lesions are crusted or healed
Antibiotics required. Cover areas with plaster / dressing to prevent spread. School to inform HPT
Influenza (Flu)
Until recovered
Flu is most contagious before symptoms show.
Measles
5 days from onset of rash

Meningitis/ Septicaemia

Mumps
5 days from onset of swollen Glands
Preventable by vaccination.
Ringworm
Until treatment commenced
Treatment is important and available at chemists. Check pets
Scarlet Fever
5 days from treatment of antibiotics
Treatment recommended
Shingles
5 days from onset of rash or until last blister dries up.
Cannot be spread from person to person however the blister fluid can transmit chickenpox to those who haven’t
had the disease.
Slapped Cheek
None
Care with Pregnant women
Verrucae
None
Creams can be bought from chemists, filed down with an emery board or the doctor may offer treatment.
Whooping Cough
5 days from commencement of antibiotics
Verrucae should be covered with sock in swimming pools and gymnasiums.
