ACTIVE VOLCANO– A volcano that is very likely to erupt.
CRATER - This is the depression at the top of the vent.
DORMANT VOLCANO– A volcano that hasn’t erupted for
many years
EXTINCT VOLCANO– A volcano that has not erupted for
thousands or millions of years.
LAHAR - Mudflows caused by the combination of volcanic
materials and water.
LAVA – Molten rock that flows down the volcano sides.
MAGMA - Molten rock underneath the Erath’s crust
PYROCLASTIC FLOW – Hot gases and steam that flow from a
volcano.
VENT - This is the pipe up the middle of the volcano.
VOLCANO – An opening or vent in the Earth’s surface.
