Induction Assignment: Personal Profile
The purpose of this assignment is to:
Understand how to use an assignment brief, present student work and the hand in procedures for all assignments.
Scenario
You have been accepted onto the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport Course at Lymm High School and over the next two
years you will be producing assignments on a weekly basis that will contribute to your overall grade. It is essential that you
understand how to use an assignment brief effectively and how to structure your assignment.
Task 1
You need to produce a personal profile that identifies your strengths and areas for improvement as a BTEC Sports student. You
must do some independent research using the sources provided and any other resources available to you to find out more about
the BTEC course and set yourself some short term and long term goals. (P1)
You should include all of the following information:

Your personal details: appropriate profile picture, sporting preferences, academic grades, sporting achievements, likes
and dislikes.

The strengths you have as a BTEC Sport student: e.g. attendance, punctuality, effort, subject knowledge, specific BTEC
unit, behaviour, quality of writing, communication skills, ICT, enthusiasm, commitment, class discussion, coaching, time
management, confidence, ability to meet deadlines and independent learning.

The areas for improvement you have as a BTEC Sport student: e.g. attendance, punctuality, effort, subject knowledge,
specific BTEC units, behaviour, quality of writing, communication skills, ICT, enthusiasm, commitment, class discussion,
coaching, time management, confidence, ability to meet deadlines and independent learning.

Personal objectives for the course: e.g. gaining specific coaching qualifications, overall grade, work experience, gain
employment, specific units you want to learn, place at a specific university and/or a specific university course.

Long term career plans: e.g. sports development, sports coaching, physical education teacher, physiotherapist, Sports
marketing, Fitness Instructor, Sports Science, Outdoor activities Instructor.
Task 2
You need to produce a powerpoint presentation that explains and justifies your strengths and areas for improvement as a BTEC
Sports Student. You must do some independent research using the sources provided and any other resources available to you to
find out more about the BTEC course to explain and justify some course objectives and long term career goals. You must present
this back to the rest of your BTEC group during your first week of the course (M1 & D1).
Guidance
P1: You need to identify for a pass therefore you should list the information that needs to be provided. This should be displayed
in a personal profile so use tables to present your work. It is important that you include all of the content included on the
assignment brief to gain a pass.
M1: You must explain this means you need to include ‘how’ and ‘why’ you have chosen your strengths, areas for improvement,
course objectives and long term career goals. This should include more specific examples to show you have done some research
and you should be using the word ‘because’ to explain ‘how’ and ‘why’ you have made these choices in your presentation.
D1: You must justify this means giving supported reasons for your view to explain how you have arrived at these conclusions. This
requires you to provided evidence of your strengths and areas of improvement through facts and examples. You must also give
supported reasons for your objectives of the course and long term career goals.
