Lawrence Horowitz Period 4 4/27/12 Purpose- To observe the differences between a person’s active and resting blood pressure and pulse. Hypothesis- If a person was to take their blood pressure and pulse after being active then the blood pressure and pulse will be higher than when it is recorded at three and five minutes. What does a person’s blood pressure tell you about their health? A person’s blood pressure tells you whether or not they are at rise of health problems. 2. Why is checking your blood pressure important? Checking your blood pressure is important to see if your body at risk of health problems. 3. Research a disease associated with blood pressure. Explain what the disease is, what causes it, how it affects the body, what are the treatments and preventions, and finally, what can happen if it is left untreated? A disease associated with blood pressure is Coronary Heart Disease or Coronary Artery Disease which is a condition in when plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries, whoever these arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to your heart muscle. Coronary Heart Disease can lead to angina and even a heart attack. Treatments may include lifestyle changes, medicines, and medical procedures. And a prevention of Coronary Heart Disease can be a healthy lifestyle. ConclusionIn this lab, we tested how blood pressure can be measured and how body activity can rise your blood pressure. The data shows that after small activity the heart rate slowly returns to its average after a period of rest. This proves my hypothesis correct because after five minutes of rest the heart rates of the people started to decrease. I have learned in this experiment that blood pressure and watching your blood pressure is important to maintain a healthy life. I also learned about Coronary Heart Disease, how it works, how it can be treated and how it can be prevented. This lab relates to what we are learning in class because we are learning about the blood pressure and the whole circulatory system and how it functions and how the blood cycle works.
