Preparing to Join NRPF Connect – A 12 Step Checklist

1 Check that you have Internet Explorer Version 7 or above installed on your computers. If not, consult your IT department to update your web browser.

2 Check that you have Government Connect (GCSX) connectivity (Can you access the following webpage: https://www.loctasearch.gse.gov.uk/nrpfconnect )? If not, consult your IT department to get access to the GCSX Network.

3 Share the NRPF Connect access agreement with relevant persons within your local authority. These will include your legal services department and may include senior managers.¹

4 Confirm by email with the NRPF Network that your legal department agree in principle to the terms and conditions of the NRPF Connect access agreement.

5 Send the NRPF Network the following information so that we can process the engrossment for signature: a) Confirmation of the formal legal name of your local authority for the purpose of entering into contracts; b) The name and address of your Head of Service or Director/Assistant

Director to include in Section 16.1.2 of the access agreement; c) Your address to send the engrossment by recorded delivery.

Send the NRPF Network your name and full address so that we can process the invoice for payment of the NRPF Connect access fee.

7 Sign and return both engrossments to the NRPF Network by recorded delivery to

8 the following address: Henry St Clair Miller, Room G11, Islington Town Hall,

Upper Street, London, N1 2UD.

Pay NRPF Connect access fee (£2,000).

9 Requested login details from MAG:NET Solutions (e: support@magnetsolutions.co.uk; tel: 0161 925 1501) and once you have access, create a login for all users at your local authority.

10 Complete the initial data collection Excel spread sheet with details of clients who have been supported financially since April 2012 (including those whose services have since been stopped).²

11 Upload the completed Excel spread sheet to NRPF Connect (using upload guidance provided by the NRPF Network.

12 Book a place on the next NRPF Connect training course.

¹ The NRPF Connect local authority access agreement details the terms and conditions of access to the NRPF Connect database, the NRPF Connect Information Sharing Protocol (ISP) and the contract terms for the service provider (MAG:NET Solutions). This document was drafted in consultation with 13 local authorities and key experts in the field, including Timothy Pitt-Payne

QC, the leading barrister in the UK on data sharing. The document has been approved by the

UKBA’s data manager and the UK Cabinet Office Public Services Network team, and the access agreement has been signed by the UK Border Agency.

We will not be able to accept any significant changes to the access agreement terms since they have been subject to negotiation and approval by the UKBA who are an essential partner of this project.

² Completing the data collection Excel spread sheet will be the most time consuming task over

NRPF Connect, but much quicker than adding each case individually to the database and is the most efficient way of getting you started on the database. Once you have uploaded the spread sheet to NRPF Connect (using the attached guidance) MAGNET Solutions will automatically import your data into the system.
