Wildwood Middle School Social Studies Department
Photo Contest
The Wildwood Social Studies Department is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the
first annual Jefferson County Photo Contest. Photos must be personally taken by the student
submitting the entry, and be school appropriate. The top twelve winning photos will be
selected for publishing as a Wildwood Middle School Calendar and will be sold as a fundraiser
for the Social Studies Department to assist funding future Explorer club field trips.
Photo Rules: 1. All photos must be taken by Wildwood Middle School students.
2. All photos must have been taken in the boundaries of Jefferson County or
West Virginia and be no older than one year old from the contest date.
3. Photos must be school appropriate and follow school guidelines.
4. Photos must be submitted no later than Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015.
5. The photo must fall into one of the following three categories:
Category One: Historic Jefferson County
Photos must be of one of Jefferson County’s numerous historic sites (historic homes,
national or area parks, historic structures, battlefields, historic markers, churches, etc.).
Category Two: Agricultural Jefferson County

Photos must portray an aspect of the Rural Agricultural Heritage of Jefferson County
(barns, farms, crops, livestock, harvest scenes, life on the farm).
Category Three: Picturesque Jefferson County/West Virginia:
Jefferson County and West Virginia are filled with many picturesque view sheds from
rolling fields to mountains and rivers. Picturesque West Virginia can be any photo of natural
Jefferson County/West Virginia in all her glory (mountains, rivers, ponds, streams, woods,
fields, rock formations, wildlife, seasonal photos, etc.).
Photos may be sent to your current Social Studies Teacher’s email address, printed on photo
paper, and brought into your Social Studies teacher, or submitted via Instagram. Social Studies
Teacher’s emails are as follows: ejenkins@k12.wv.us; crwebb@k12.wv.us; esloan@k12.wv.us;
and kbroughe@k12.wv.us . All photos must contain your name, grade, and category.
To submit via Instagram: Take your photo and hashtag it #wewanderwv. In the caption,
include your first name, grade level, and category. This option is only workable if your
Instagram profile is public.
