SERVICE LEARNING STUDENT-PLACEMENT CONTRACT
The Student-Placement Contract is designed to:



Assist the student and placement advisor in understanding the learning objectives for Service
Learning.
Clarify the activities in which the student will be involved in the placement in relation to the learning
objectives.
Ensure that both the student and the placement advisor are aware of their responsibilities as
partners in this Service Learning project.
Course Learning Objectives:



Increase student motivation and understanding of their discipline by grounding academic
knowledge in meaningful, relevant context
Connect the unique perspectives and ideas of the academic undergraduate student with those of
their peer, research or external community.
Develop student competence for and appreciation for critical thinking, reflection, teamwork,
communication, creativity and initiative

1. Arrive on time and appropriately dressed
2. Be honest, respectful, and cooperative
3. Conduct themselves in a professional manner
4. Communicate with the placement advisor
and course coordinator regarding problems,
questions or concerns they may have
5. Be aware of their own safety, avoid unsafe
situations & refuse activity when feeling unsafe
6. Participate in any additional training and/or
orientation required for their placement project
7. Contact the placement in advance if unable
to make a scheduled appointment
8. Ensure that they are not utilized as TAs,
Teaching Fellows, Demonstrators, Instructors,
Tutors, Invigilators, Markers, Teaching Lab
Assists., Chief Presiding Officers, or Lecturers.
9. Honour their commitment to their placement
partnership & the Service Learning program
