It is believed that Abram Van Horn, the patriarch of the WV Van
Horns, came to Harrison County VA with his son, William. History of the
Seventh Day Adventist of West Virginia, makes reference to father
Abram. There is some confusion as to the children of Abram Van Horn;
consequently, children once thought to be his, have now been accorded
to his son, William, by a trained genealogist, based on records and
dates.

William Van Horn Sr., a son of Abram Van Horn was probably born
about 1732 and died in Harrison County VA (WV) in 1814. He married
Sarah Rudderow May 21, 1757. Sarah was a daughter of John and Elizabeth
(Jones) Rudderow. William first acquired land in Harrison County VA (WV)
on January 15, 1789, from William Rice. The sale is recorded in the
Harrison County Court House, Deed Book 5, indicating that both parties
were residents of Woolwich Township, Glouchester County, Western
Division, New Jersey. William's will, dated August 25, 1807, references
his wife, Sara (Rudderow) and the following children: John, Willam Jr,
Elizabeth, Barnard, Abigail and Anne.

born in Harrison County VA May 26, 1804 and died in Clinto County IA January 8,
1874. He married Elizabeth Davis. Elizabeth, a daughter of Jacob and Prudence
(Maxon) Davis, was born in Harrison County VA October 5, 1805 and died December
12, 1872 in Clinton County IA.
They went to Ohio and from Ohio to Peoria County IL in 1850 and than to
Clinton County IA in 1859, settling on what was known as West Prairie, west of
the present town of Welton. They were members of the Welton Seventh Day Baptist
Church.

Freeman's Creek in Lewis County until about 1850 and then moved to Cedar Creek
in Gilmer County sometime after 1850.
