FRONTIER NURSING HONOR SOCIETY OF FRONTIER NURSING UNIVERSITY June 2015 I am delighted to see so many of you interested in applying for membership to Frontier Nursing Honor Society! Frontier Nursing University is an incredible scholarly home for our organization. The Leadership Team at FNU has been extremely supportive of our endeavors to provide a scholarly home for both faculty and students. With their support, we are excited to announce that in July, we will officially become a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. A number of you have inquired about how to go about finding appropriate persons to endorse your application for membership in FNHS. Please allow me to provide you with additional details about who qualifies to serve as an endorser and then offer suggestions as to where you might know such individuals. Who is a good choice to provide an endorsement for you? - This person should be well acquainted with you professionally. - This person has direct knowledge of your integrity as a nurse. - This person has knowledge of you as a leader or potential leader. - This person has interfaced with you professionally, whether as an employer, coworker, faculty or other positions within nursing. Where should I consider looking for such a person? - Consider faculty, both clinical and “classroom” that have come to know you during graduate or undergraduate school. - Consider current or former employers, specifically nurses to whom you have reported. - Consider current members of STTI and/or FNHS if you have an established professional relationship with that person. - Consider persons that have participated together with you in scholarly endeavors that promote the profession of nursing, nursing integrity, nursing education and/or nursing leadership. To facilitate your efforts further a list of current members of Frontier Nursing Honor Society is available on the Honor Society web page. Thank you, Mary K. Jones, DNP, CNM, FNP-BC, ENP-BC President, Frontier Nursing Honor Society Email: mary.jones@frontier.edu
