Leadership is about nurturing and enhancing” Tom Peters Middle Leadership Training Programme This programme will be held at Thornden School. It will consist of: 1 x twilight sessions (4.00 pm – 5.00 pm at Thornden School – learning coaches only) 5 x twilight sessions (4.00 pm-6.00 pm at Thornden School - participants) 1 x half day presentation and celebration (1.00 pm-4.30 pm at Thornden School – participants and learning coaches) Overview: Objectives: This well-established programme is aimed at aspiring middle leaders or teachers who are new to middle leadership. The course will be led by two NCTL facilitators who are qualified to run middle leadership courses. As part of the course participants will have access to a learning coach who will be in a senior role in their own school. The focus of the course will be on developing leadership skills and developing an understanding of how data can be used to develop strategies for improvement. Participants will be required to produce a leadership challenge project which will focus on closing a gap in attainment within their own school environment. This programme enables colleagues to leave with an ability to: identify the difference between leadership and management analyse and use performance data identify effective teaching and learning Develop the necessary skills to become an effective team leader how to manage change and continuous improvement Identify a gap in attainment and develop leadership strategies to close the gap.
