Species diversity:
Is well-defined as the number of species
and abundance of each species that live
in a specific or particular location.
sometimes the number of species that
live in a certain location are called
species richness.
Scientist estimated the number of
different species classified that inhabit
our planet earth, which is 1.8million. of
all these species, approximately 1 million
are insects. Each year nearly 13,000
more new species are added to this
growing list
BIODIVERSITY
Genetics: genetic diversity is the
sum of information contained in
the genes of plants, animals and
other organisms. Every single
species is the storeroom of an
immense amount of genetic
information. The number of genes
ranges are about 1000 in bacteria
to more that 40 000 in many
flowering plants. Genetic
differentiation within species
occurs as a result of sexual
reproduction. During this process
genetic differences between the
species are combined in their
offspring to produce new
combinations of genes causing
changes in the DNA.
Ecosystem Diversity:
Refers to the variation of ecosystems in
a specific or a given place, it is the
combination of communities of living
things. There are many different kinds
of ecosystem for example deserts,
mountains slopes, the ocean floor etc…
Each ecosystem provides many
different kinds of habitats or living
places for the living and non living
things. Ecosystem are a huge help for
the world for example, forest act as
filters for air, absorbing carbon dioxide
and releasing oxygen and seas are the
great stabilizers of climate.
