Year 1, Level 5 modules introduce basic concepts with an emphasis on
personal and professional ways of being. These modules are compulsory
for entry to Level 6 papers.
Year 2, Level 6 modules are compulsory for entry to Level 7 papers. These
modules and the year 3, fifth semester Level 7 papers cover integrated
nursing practice across the lifespan with a focus on population health,
Treaty of Waitangi and cultural safety in Primary Health Care, Mental
health and Inpatient contexts. Students have the opportunity to focus on a
specific area of practice during Semester 5 (Refer Section 12, Module:
HLBN713 Focused Special Topic).
In Semester 6, students undertake final clinical placement in their practice
area/s to meet NCNZ competencies for the Registered Nurse scope of
practice (Refer Section 12, Module: HLBN721 Integrated Practice).
