Subject specific networks provide opportunities for teachers with subject leadership
responsibilities to meet with other teachers who have matching roles. The focus of the
meetings is directed by the professionals involved. Sometimes the focus will be the sharing
of resources, moderating pupils’ work or collaborative planning. Where the SSN feels that
external expertise would be appropriate the EIP will endeavour to locate a suitable
professional to provide that.
By locating the SSN meetings in different schools it is hoped that the members will be
given the opportunity to engage in a learning walk with the member of the group who
teaches in that school.

Masters degree (prior accreditation module).
Suitable for: Teachers in primary and secondary phases who wish to undertake a Masters
degree, part-time, with the University of Sussex.
Date:
Commencement from September 2016. Evening and weekend dates to be
provided by the University of Sussex.
Location:

Provider:

Cost:
Rother EIP schools – £550. Rother EIP will fund 50% of this cost per
participant (limited to ten participants). This cost falls in the 2016/17
academic year, not in the current academic year. A place should be booked
in 2015 to 2016 as UoS provide potential participants with a free twilight
CPD about preparing for the module.
Many teachers have Masters-level credits that are valid from their PGCE (if taken within
the last five years) or have engaged in professional development but would now like to
move to M-level qualifications. This module is an excellent stepping stone on the way to
achieving the Masters-degree. Taking place on Saturdays and in the evenings from
September 2016, the prior accreditation module will get students up to speed with M-level
study.
Start preparing now! The module enables a student to take an activity that they have
participated in recently, such as Grappling with Grammar, learning threes or NPQSL, and
reflect on their learning and the impact of that learning in a formal, contextual format.
There is an expectation that participants will make their learning from the module
available to schools across Rother EIP, either in the form of the module portfolio or a CPD
session.

The aim of national leaders of education is to increase the leadership capacity of other
schools to help raise standards. NLEs must meet the following standards: be judged as
outstanding by Ofsted; show consistently high levels of pupil performance and progress or
continued improvement over the last 3 years; be above the current minimum standards set
by the government; and have outstanding senior and middle leaders who have
demonstrated that they have a strong track record and the capacity to provide significant
support to under-performing schools.
Please contact the NLE directly.
