Cross-country Skiing & Snow Play Excursions for Schools & Groups
V1.0.0_2014
Lake Mountain Alpine Resort is able to offer a variety of school and group options to cater for all your
needs during the winter season. With all the resorts facility’s located within a very short distance of
each other, and a very safe and pleasant drive up from Camp Marysville, only taking on average thirty
minutes by bus.
The road from Marysville to Lake Mountain is classed as a non-hazardous road, with the resort entry at
the half way point of the 22 km drive from Marysville.
Depending on the snow conditions on the road, your bus driver may have to fit or carry snow chains,
we advise that before departing Camp Marysville you call the resort administration office to confirm
the condition of the road and if your driver will be required to carry or fit chains at the designated
areas.
On arrival at the resort entry you will be greeted by one of the resorts staff members who would have
already received your booking via the ski school. From this point it is 10 km to the resort, and the ski
school staff will greet your bus at the bus park.
Ski Patrol will talk to all the students about safety on the mountain, and any weather conditions or
updates that will be relevant to your day at Lake Mountain before any activity’s start.
Lake Mountain Alpine Resort’s ski and equipment hire depart will be your first stop, we tend to like to
have groups of ten at a time so that we can fit each student and teacher as efficiently as possible.
Step 1 Protective clothing if required (we have a number of options depending on weather conditions)
Step 2 Ski boot fitting, we recommend a good snug fitting ski boot.
Step 3 Ski hire, each instructor will select the correct ski for each student.
Step 4 Ski poles.
Step 5 Ski lesson, your instructor will be waiting for you as you depart the ski hire.

Each ski lesson will run for 1.5 hours, unless you have requested an all-day lesson, all lessons will start
on the teaching area and start with the basics of cross-country skiing, one the instructor is happy that
the group is safe and able to move around on the skis, your group will be taken out onto the ski trails
to explore the mountain, at all times the instructor will maintain the teaching as the group moves
around the ski trails. We can also offer snowshoes to any member of the group who does not wish to
ski so that they are able to stay with the group.
Each instructor at all times has radio contact with the resort and ski patrol, if for any reason ski patrol is
required the instructor will radio the location and other relevant information direct to the ski patrol.
The instructor will also decide in some circumstances to return to the resort due to bad weather.
On return to the resort at the end of the ski lesson the ski hire staff will meet the group as they return
the equipment.
Other options
Equipment hire only, an option for groups that have an experienced leader who would be able to teach
cross country skiing or provide a guided tour around the resort. If you decide to take this offer we will
provide a radio to all the leaders in the group so they have contact if needed with ski patrol or the
resort main office.
Protective clothing
Depending on the group’s needs and the weather conditions on the day, Lake Mountain is able to
provide full wet weather clothing, the instructor will decide if any student requires additional
protective clothing and this will be provided at no cost to the student if your group has supplied the
protective clothing for the day.
