To gain a CP (competent) result for this unit or cluster, you must satisfactorily complete all assessment tasks contained in this assessment tool. The trainer/assessor will make a judgement about your competence in the unit(s) based on all the evidence that is presented and provide genuine feedback on individual assessment tasks. If you wish to appeal any assessment decision you must follow the steps outlined by TasTAFE policy as per the handbook. For further information about the assessment process, please see the brochure “General information about Assessment – All Courses”. This is available from reception and can also be found on the student website. Submitting Assessment It is generally expected that written assessment tasks be word-processed e.g. work that would be expected in the workplace (computers are widely available in TasTAFE). If you are unable to comply with this please discuss this with your trainer/assessor or program coordinator. Assessments can be presented electronically via email or in hard copy Please ensure that your documentation is presented logically and named clearly. Reasonable Adjustment Adjustments can be made to the way in which evidence from the candidate can be collected. We provide all students who require reasonable adjustment with opportunities to access and utilise appropriate support and alternative assessment methods. If you feel that an assessment result is unjust or unfair you have the right to request more information or feedback about the assessment decision. You may also ask for a re-assessment. If you have an issue with an assessment decision or outcome it is encouraged that you discuss this with the trainer/assessor who conducted the assessment. If this does not resolve the matter you can talk to the Team Leader or submit a Feedback form. Plagiarism Plagiarism is not acceptable. Plagiarism is using another person’s ideas and words without clearly saying where that information came from. The TasTAFE plagiarism policy is documented in the Student Handbook. Achieving Competence When all assessment tasks have been submitted you will receive a result of competent or not yet competent. What happens if your work is not at the required standard? If an assessment task does not meet the requirements you will be provided with feedback and the opportunity to resubmit. A maximum of 3 attempts is offered before you will receive a result of Not Competent (NP). Confidentiality When submitting work for assessment, confidentiality and respecting ‘clients’ rights to privacy are very important. This needs to be adhered to at all times. Any identifying information relating to a ‘client’ needs to be removed from the evidence or you must submit a completed written consent form from the ‘client’. Your trainer/assessor will provide you with a consent form. Retention of Student Assessments Your completed assessments will be retained for the duration of your program and an additional 6 months for auditing purposes. The unit covers the skills and knowledge required to determine the success of both the training provided and one's own personal training performance. It emphasises the training as being driven by the work process and context. The following assessment tasks and supporting documentation need to be included in your portfolio. Tasks 1, 2 and 3 will require observation of you conducting instruction and demonstration of a work skill with your candidate/s in either: your workplace an RTO or in another training environment which you have negotiated with your assessor prior to commencement in the program eg TasTAFE. For each of Task 1-3 you need to demonstrate delivery of work skill instruction to 3 different individuals or small groups with different learning objectives. For at least one of your sessions you need to include the use of technology .This could include a range of aids such as you tube, ipad /tablet, smart phone, video. In task 1 you will either be observed directly or you will need to provide a recorded video (able to be opened in Windows media player) of one of work skill demonstration to be reviewed by your assessor. In tasks 2 and 3 you will need to be observed by a third party who has Certificate 1V In Training and Assessment or provide a recorded video (able to be opened in Windows media player). If you are using a third party observation you will need to provide evidence of the observers Certificate 1V in Training and Assessment to your assessor. You will need to give your assessor a copy of your delivery plan and any associated documentation prior to delivery. All observation records to be used are included in this assessment tool. All tasks including completion date will be discussed and negotiated with your assessor. Your portfolio can be provided in hard copy or emailed to your assessor.
