Job title: Post-doctoral research associate in the field of bone-muscle interactions and imaging.
Job description
Post-doctoral position is now available at the Faculty of Medicine of Bar-Ilan University in the Galilee, for
scientists interested in perusing interdisciplinary research in the fields of genetics of mammalian
musculoskeleton.
Our group is performing an extensive research of human skeletal diseases using human patient data and
animal models. Our aim is to provide a burden of proof for the potentially-pleiotropic genes discovered in
humans for bone-muscle interface, by a functional validation in-vitro and in-vivo.
In particular, the candidate will:
- detect effects of the genes identified by GWAS, on the musculoskeletal system by tracing expression
levels in cell lines and primary bone and muscle cells, including osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes, as
well as myoblasts. Measure bone resorption activity and expression of the serum markers of bone
turnover.
- silencing and knocking-out potentially pleiotropic genes significantly expressed in bone and muscle cells.
- perform musculoskeletal system imaging of the animal locomotor systems. Post-doctoral fellow will need
to analyze and integrate in-vivo imaging of micro-CT scans in order to explore bone-muscle interactions
in norm and disease.
The position requires an extensive experience in cell lines maintenance and general molecular biology
protocols. S/he will also need to operate a micro-CT device.
Post-doctoral position is for 2 years, with an option for extended year.
The position is at the Faculty of Medicine of BIU in Safed, in the Galilee region of Israel.
