Grad 2016 Update #1–Sept. 30

September 30, 2015 (Grad 2016 Update #1)
Dear Parent and Graduate,
We are very excited to celebrate Grad 2016. As a school we work together with parents and
students to organize three events: Prom, Dry Grad and the Graduation Ceremony. We are
proud to support school-organized events and fund-raisers throughout the year to assist our
Grads in having fun and safe experiences. We invite you to extend your support by becoming
involved in the Grad Parent Committee and supporting those events, which ensure the safety
and well being of all our graduates.
If you would like to become more involved in Graduation activities, your assistance would be
very much appreciated. The Grad Parent Committee typically includes the following subcommittees (although this can be adjusted):
 Fundraising & Canvassing
 Lasagna Dinner
 Dry Grad (organization, set-up & security)
 Phoning / Communication
 Prom (Dinner & Dance)
For more information on volunteering please contact Corey Holding (cholding@interwrap.com)
It is important to note that much time and energy is placed in organizing Grad events. While we
recognize other events are often considered by Grads and parents (ie a 2nd, non-school
sponsored prom, cruises, S-Trips etc.) please note such activities may have an impact on our
school culture, safety, and reputation. As such, the school does not support trips or activities
organized by students or other companies. These companies do not carry similar
responsibilities as school-supervised activities or field trips. If you are considering such activities
please exercise due diligence and research “S-Trips + reviews” and forums with parent
comments. Considering Dry Grad and Prom will cost approximately $40,000, and solicits
financial support from businesses to sponsor a non-alcoholic / drug-free event, we hope you
place your efforts in supporting these initiatives.
Information regarding Grad activities may be found on the school website: pmss.sd42.ca. The
student ‘Grad Committee’ will be created in December (or earlier) and Grads will receive most
of their graduation information through their Grad Transitions 12 course, including: yearbook
write-ups, ceremony tickets, ceremony write-ups, gown sizing, etc. To assist in understanding
the school sponsored events please note the following information:
PROM on Friday May 27, 2016
Tickets for GRADS only will go on sale in March (dates to be confirmed). Additional guest ticket
information will be released at a later date. If you have any questions or would like to assist this
committee, please contact Corey Holding (cholding@interwrap.com).
Dry Grad at PMSS, May 27, 2016
Following Prom, graduates are invited to participate in Dry Grad hosted by the Grade 12 parents.
Dry Grad is an all-night affair with food, fun, and entertainment. The planning and organization of
this event is an enormous task and the parent committee is always in need of volunteers for
fundraising activities and/or assisting with the actual event. Committee Chair(s) needed.
