Emancipet Facts for 2014 About Emancipet is a nonprofit on a mission to make high-quality spay/neuter services and preventive veterinary care affordable and accessible to all pet owners. Emancipet manages a growing network of high-quality, low-cost clinics, offers customized training programs, and advocates for prevention-based solutions to animal homelessness. Achievements Emancipet has safely spayed or neutered more than 200,000 dogs and cats. Emancipet performed about 5,000 surgeries during its first year (1999). Today it provides more than 22,000 spay/neuter surgeries annually. Forty percent of the 22,000 surgeries performed annually, are provided at no cost to pet owners. Emancipet has grown from a single mobile unit to a network of three stationary clinics and two mobile clinics serving seven Texas counties. Emancipet has served more than 141,000 pets with preventive veterinary care (vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention, and microchipping). In 2013, Emancipet launched a training and mentoring program to help existing spay/neuter clinics serve more people and pets. Emancipet has trained groups around the nation and in Canada, and has provided informal mentoring to dozens more.
