Emancipet Facts for 2014
About
Emancipet is a nonprofit on a mission to make high-quality spay/neuter services
and preventive veterinary care affordable and accessible to all pet owners.
Emancipet manages a growing network of high-quality, low-cost clinics, offers
customized training programs, and advocates for prevention-based solutions to
animal homelessness.
Achievements
 Emancipet has safely spayed or neutered more than 200,000 dogs and
cats.
 Emancipet performed about 5,000 surgeries during its first year (1999).
Today it provides more than 22,000 spay/neuter surgeries annually.
 Forty percent of the 22,000 surgeries performed annually, are provided at
no cost to pet owners.
 Emancipet has grown from a single mobile unit to a network of three
stationary clinics and two mobile clinics serving seven Texas counties.
 Emancipet has served more than 141,000 pets with preventive veterinary
care (vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention, and microchipping).
 In 2013, Emancipet launched a training and mentoring program to help
existing spay/neuter clinics serve more people and pets. Emancipet has
trained groups around the nation and in Canada, and has provided
informal mentoring to dozens more.

Training Overview
Emancipet’s training team offers an array of training and support services to help
animal welfare organizations, spay/neuter clinics, and public and private shelters:
 Boost spay/neuter efficiency and impact

 Strengthen organizational infrastructure
Training Services
 Speaking Engagements— Emancipet’s team of experienced speakers is
available to present at conferences and workshops on topics including
serving underserved populations, influencing local policy to prevent animal

homelessness, customer service for social change, and more.

Seminar Series— Emancipet hosts one- or two-day experiences in Austin
on hot topics in animal welfare. Each seminar is limited to 25 participants
to ensure everyone gets personal attention from instructors.

Private Trainings— Emancipet offers private training experiences created
specifically for groups and organizations, either onsite at the
organization’s location or at Emancipet’s flagship clinic in Austin.

Customized Consulting— Emancipet also offers longer consulting
engagements, typically 3-6 months, that include working with an
organization’s board, leadership, and staff to identify key areas of
opportunity and help create an action plan to facilitate positive

As the CEO of Emancipet since 2006, Amy leads the organization’s strategic
growth plan to make spay/neuter and preventive veterinary care affordable and
accessible to all pet owners. Amy is a sought-after speaker nationally and
