The 95th Army Lawn Tennis Championships will take place at the Aldershot Tennis Centre from Saturday 18 July until Wednesday 22 July 2015. 2. Matches will be decided on the best of 3 sets. In all events except in the Veterans Handicap Singles Competition, a tiebreak will apply in each of the first 2 sets and the final set will be an advantage set. 3. Play will take place on the outdoor hard courts. However, the programme may be modified by the Tournament Referee and indoor courts may have to be used. 4. Players’ dress is to be recognised tennis clothing and predominately white. Tennis shoes, appropriate to the type of court used, should be worn. The Tournament Referee’s decision in the matter of dress and shoes will be final. 5. Please ensure that your contact name, address and telephone numbers are shown on the entry form so that the Tournament Referee can contact you if necessary. Entry forms without the appropriate fees or a contact address/telephone number WILL NOT be accepted. 8. Players who fail to turn up at their initial start times for the championships (forwarded to individuals in the week prior to the tournament), or at the times set out in the forecast of play to be published daily during the Championships, may be disqualified. It is the responsibility of all players to check the time of play at the close of each day for play the following day. 9. Events: 1 – 8 Eligibility. These events are open to all ranks of the Regular and Reserve Army who will be serving on 22 Jul 15. 10. Event 2: Inter Arms & Corps Doubles Eligibility. This event will be open to any male or female player of the same Arm or Corps. Doubles pairs may be mixed doubles or single sex doubles. Any number of pairs from an individual Arm or Corps may enter. 11. Event: 4 & 7 Men’s and Ladies’ Plate Eligibility. All players knocked out in their first match will automatically be entered in the Plate Competition. 12. Event: 8 - Mixed Doubles Eligibility. This event is open to: a. All serving Regular and Reserve personnel. b. Retired officers, ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen who have completed Regular or Reserve service. c. Spouses and children of those eligible at Para 12a and 12b above provided they partner a player who is also eligible under Para 12a and 12b above. 2 13. Events: 9 – 12 Eligibility. a. Age Limit. All entrants are to be at least 40 yrs on 31 Dec 2015. b. These events will be open to: (1) All serving Regular and Reserve personnel. (2) All retired officers, ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen who have served for any length of engagement in the Regular or Reserve Army. c. Events: 11 & 12 Eligibility. The Men’s and Ladies’ Veteran Doubles events may be conducted as a round-robin competition and not on a traditional knockout basis, but this will be subject to the number of entries received. Where 2 Pools are played the top team in each pool will play the runner up team in the other pool as semi-finals, the winners from which will play in the finals. 14. Event 13 Eligibility. The 21 & Under Open Singles is open to men and ladies who are age 21 & under as at 31 Dec 15 and who have not previously represented Army Tennis. Subject to the number of entries received, the event is likely to be conducted as a round-robin competition and not on a traditional knockout basis. Players entering this event are encouraged to enter any of the Events 1-8 as appropriate. 15. Detailed conditions are held by the Tournament Referee whose decision is final. 16. Entrants are reminded that there is no limit applied to the number of events that any player may enter for which he/she is eligible. However, should a player play through to the latter rounds of many of his/her events, then that player must be prepared to play the tightly scheduled programme that such success will bring. In the event of a small entry for any event, the Tournament Referee reserves the right to cancel that event. Players will be notified of any changes. Players must be available to play from 0930 hours each day of play. In exceptional circumstances where this is not possible, the Tournament Referee must be informed at least one week before the start of the Championship. In genuine cases, every effort will be made to accommodate individual player’s availability, but once the draw has been made players will be expected to play at the stated times. Non availability due to exceptional circumstances must be shown on the Entry Form. Players are warned that if their availability cannot be accommodated within the timeframe of the Championships the Tournament Referee reserves the right to disqualify a player. 17. 18. Players who wish to enter a doubles event (not Event 2 – Inter-Arms and corps doubles) may request that a partner be found for them. The Tournament Referee will attempt to comply but no guarantee can be given. Those with a nominated partner must ensure that the partner submits the corresponding Entry Form. 19. Players will be notified of their report times for their first Championship match prior to the opening day of the Championships. Travel: Travel at public expense is admissible in accordance with 2014DIN10-030. Every effort is to be made to reduce costs by sharing transport whenever possible. 21. Catering: A daily catering facility will be available for breakfast (bacon sandwiches, tea coffee, soft drinks etc) and a light lunch. This will be manned by military chefs and will be available from 0900 – 1600 hrs daily. 22. Tournament B-B-Q: The traditional tournament B-B-Q will be held on the evening of the opening day of the tournament, Saturday 18 July 2015. All players, families and supporters are most welcome and the cost of the B-B-Q will be £5.00 per head and this will include food and drinks. 23.
