Selection Criteria The Assessment panel will look at how strongly projects address the following criteria. What is the creative concept/idea of the project? (describe the project values, the meaning and features of the project) How will the community benefit artistically and culturally from the project? Does the project tell a story about the place and people of the region? Does the project involve high quality arts/heritage practitioners and practice? What is the public outcome of the project? Community Involvement The benefits of a community arts or heritage project go beyond a resolved outcome. The emphasis is on an inclusive process and benefit for the wider community that is relevant and meaningful. Does your project inspire and provide opportunities for the community to participate in arts and heritage activities? Participation could include: research; a role on the planning committee/board; creative contributions; participatory workshops; attending events; exhibitions or performances. Greater depth and diversity in the participation of the community will strengthen your application. Does the project identify and engage a range of partners appropriate to the project? What are the roles of these partners? Describe the involvement of the community in the design and development of the project. (The project should demonstrate a blend of effective leadership and decision making that engages the community at key stages of the project) Strategic Focus Council has long term strategies to improve the liveability of Yarra Ranges, and the day to day lives of its residents. Documents outlining these strategies are available on Council’s website. Examples of current Council strategies/action plans are: o Cultural Policy & Action Plan 2008 - 2013 o Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2013 - 2017 o Reconciliation Framework for Action 2013-2023 o Positive Ageing Strategy o Child and Youth Strategy (draft) o Adapting to a changing climate and energy future o Flora and Fauna Plan 2012 Does your project build on the skills and capacity of the community to create and drive arts and heritage activities? Has there been skills sharing, new partnerships, new experiences for those involved? Organisational Capacity and Viability What skills and resources are required to deliver your project? Have you got all these skills and resources available in your team? Have the arts or heritage practitioners been involved in collaborative community projects before? Budget Have you done your research? Get quotes, talk to people, Google it! Have you included in-kind support from other sources, e.g. goods, services, volunteer time? Have you sought funding from other sources? This can be included in your budget if applications have already been made or are in progress. It is not valid to include possible funding for which no process has been started.
