Dear Mary E. Rodman Families & Guardians,
In today’s fast-paced, high-tech world, math skills are incredibly important. Math not only helps in
day-to-day activities like checking your change at the store, it strengthens key skills like reasoning and
problem solving. And a great foundation in math is something students can build on when they’re ready for
more advanced learning and all kinds of careers.
I am writing to you today because your child’s teachers and I believe your child would benefit from
some extra academic support, particularly in mathematics. And I would like to extend a special invitation for
your child to participate in an exciting, new and COMPLETELY FREE SATURDAY MATH PROGRAM CALLED
TAKE 10.
In Take 10, students will learn a range of new math skills over several weeks—from learning about 3D geometric shapes to calculating volume and solving all kinds of equations—in a fun, hands-on way.
Additionally, your child will participate in Basketball & Cheerleading Clinics, Make-N-Take Arts & Craft
Sessions, Cooking Classes, Specialized Field Trips, and many other activities too! Your child will receive
breakfast and snack during the program operation hours.
Our program will begin on Saturday, December 10th and run through Saturday, February 28th, the
hours will be 9:00 am-12:00 pm, and our students must commit to attending every Saturday that the
program is open to receive a “Special Surprise” at the end of the program. Students will receive $50 in tiger
bucks each Saturday! In case of inclement weather, we ask that you (1) listen to the local TV and radio
stations for late-breaking information; and (2) make sure we have your correct phone number in our
school’s databank for our City Schools Global Connect call system!
To register your child to participate in this great opportunity, simply complete the enclosed
application and return it to Mary E. Rodman’s Take 10 Saturday School mailbox inside the main office. Make
sure you complete this immediately as our spaces will fill up quickly!
Thank you for everything you do to support your child’s learning. We look forward to seeing your
child in school every Monday through Friday—and now for Take 10 on Saturdays as well!
